Offer: Build your very own mobile application with Dimagi! (Apply by June 1)

Are you an organization looking to improve your community worker programs through the use of mobile phones? As part of a USAID-funded initiative to scale CommCare in India, Dimagi is pleased to announce an upcoming workshop on using CommCare, Dimagi’s open source, mobile phone-based software application. Design your application with us two weeks prior to the workshop, build it at the workshop and walk away with a phone installed with your prototype application to demonstrate to your organization!

When: July 12, 13, 14, 2013
Where: Bombay Connect/Unlimited India office located at 4th Floor, Candelar Building, 26 St John Baptist Road, Near Mount Mary Steps, Bandra (W), Mumbai, 400, 050, India.

What will the workshop cover? The workshop will last two and a half days.

Friday July 12, 2013 (Evening Only) – Meet and Greet with workshop participants and Dimagi Workshop facilitators. A show and tell of different CommCare applications and an opportunity to share your application concepts with other participants. Meet Dimagi’s Field Managers who have lots of experience implementing CommCare projects around India and globally. We announce the CommCare competitions to which all workshop participants are eligible to apply.
Saturday July 13, 2013 – (Full Day) – An overview of CommCare. We aim to build your organization’s capacity to use CommCare’s online authoring tools and create CommCare applications for use on mobile phones. Workshop participants will be walked through the application design and development based on their proposed use case.
Sunday July 14, 2013 – (Full Day) – Continuation of building and testing applications with the aim of having a fully functional application, ready to go by the end of the day. Discussion around technical considerations for deployment and an overview of CommCare implementation experience. Sharing lessons learned and challenges.

What will it cost? The workshop costs Rs. 3500 per organization (including up to two participants from each organization). Dimagi will not provide per diems or travel stipends. Lunch and tea will be provided daily. Refreshments will be provided for the Friday evening event.

Please email applications to byJune 1, 2013 11:59 IST. Participants will be notified of their acceptance by June 15, 2013. Attendance may be limited depending on space available. If accepted, there will be preparatory work to refine the structure and content of the application you wish to create at the workshop. Dimagi will schedule a call with the participants selected, in order to review worksheets.
