Hi there, Jensine-

Here's one group that could turn your generous offer into care and skills training:

Project Mercy is a group in Ethiopia that supports women and families in the Yetebon village, located in the Gurage Zone, located about 140 km southwest of Addis Ababa. Their website says:

Our training programs are teaching some of the women to have marketable skills that will enable them to generate an income. Currently, we are training over 60 women at our Skills Training Center. They are learning the following skills:

* Basket weaving
* Cotton Spinning
* Embroidery
* Jewelry Making

We're in great need of:

* Lampwork focal beads-Think BRACELETS....
..small or flattened...comfortable to wear!
(Black and white or black and ivory are very sought after
every year if you'd like some input...
yellow is most difficult to sell, it seems)

* Sterling silver feature and accent beads

* Glass "filler" beads - bracelet-sized, please

* Cash donations for gift bags, shipping, travel expenses
for volunteers & printing of the Project brochure.

The donation form is here:

To donate, fill it out and mail it with your donation to:

The HOPE Bracelet Project

This is just one idea, of course. There are surely other groups doing similar work... Anyone have another suggestion?

I will send them this week!

Dear Kusum -

It is my great pleasure to send these beads to the group. I will send the package this week and let you know when it is expected to arrive. Please know that I am including in the box my deepest gratitude for your important work. I hope the beads are helpful in some small way. I think they are beautiful.

ps. I think we can only post photos on original posts at the moment. Instead, will post a photo of the beads, in addition to the beautiful photo you sent me on my journal with a description of our connection - if that is OK with you?

All my love and respect -

Hi Jensine and Kusum-

I just wanted to take a moment to congratulate and thank you personally.

Your connection is the first official person-to-person partnership to develop as a result of our Resource ExChange service! We are delighted to see this fresh, new friendship develop on the pages of PulseWire.

Thanks so much for recording your story! It will surely be a great example and inspiration for the community.

In partnership,

Maria Jett, Online Community Director

Almost There . . .

Dear Kusum,

I hope this finds you well! I just checked on the delivery and the beads are in New Delhi custums now. I think they may arrive in the next 3-4 days. If you have a moment, let me know when they arrive!

Do you have a cell phone? Have you tried the text messaging from your cell phone to PulseWire yet? It would be fun if you texted to your journal when you receive the box. Let us know if we can assist you if you wish to do this. I am writing a post on my journal about the "journey of the beads."

AND, I asked the delivery service to text my phone when the box clears Delhi customs.

Text transformation!

Good proposal

I am trying to find out whether you still have the beads. Can you send some to me?

Waiting for your reply.
