Violence is bad, it is dehumanizing, leads to psychological torture more so when it is perpetuated by poverty. YOUNG AFRICAN WOMEN INITIATIVES supports women, victims of domestic violence. in most cases their stories are almost the same. They claim that their spouses battered them because of asking/ demanding for money to buy food for their children. whenever they ask for money from their spouses whose majority are either jobless and earn their living through casual labor the spouses get agitated if they do not have the money. they either use violence as a defense mechanism or get drunk with local liquor which is cheap and go home to fight their wives to stop them from asking for money.

the women are traumatized and withdrawn. most of them contemplate suicide if they do not get help. we counsel the women and they have hope of living and moving on with their lives. one question they keep asking after counseling. " what can i do to get my own money, i have no education/ skills to find a job?".
the question is quite disturbing and we need to find an answer.

you can be part of the answer. we are looking for people who can sponsor us to buy sewing machine. the machines will be used for training the women on how to make handbags and other items. we shall find a market for the handbags and once we sell the items we pay the women a weekly allowance. the allowance shall be used to support their families. we believe this project will reduce domestic violence which is perpetuated by poverty.

speak to us and save this family from poverty and break the cycle of poverty in their children's lives. we need you.
