Need: Seeking Expert Volunteers to Support New Media Women`s Empowerment Center in Cameroon

Digital illiteracy is very high amongst women in Cameroon and a majority of those who are versed with the internet are not maximizing its benefits due to ignorance. It has been proven that when women go online with the right training, they are able to improve their lives and those of other members of their communities.

The goal of this center is to provide women with free basic computer skills and information on how to navigate the internet and make use of resourceful sites like World Pulse.

The center would provide a citizen journalism training program to all trainees with the intent of providing them with the skills they need to tell their own stories and ignite change in their communities. This would be a center for the transformation of victims into change makers through the power of technology.

Free Entrepreneurial training would also be offered to those interested in business so that they can be able to explore business opportunities online.

Taking women away from the hurdles of a society which imposes all forms of violence against them into safe spaces online where they are accepted, encouraged and celebrated is a sure way of empowering them.

The center would create a change in the lives of over 20.000 women and girls who would be offered free computer training and internet time.

Seeking the Following Expertise and Mentorship:

1.  Program and Business Development Expert - to work closely with the Founder to help develop the program and business plan to establish and run the center.

2.  Fundraising Expert -  to help research funding, develop fundraising strategy and materials, write/and or review funding proposals, help support with crowdfunding platforms and outreach.

3.  Financial Accountant - to help set up accountable financial systems for the center

4.  Supply Collection and Shipping - to help collect gently-used bras in the US to deliver to women in Cameroon as part of campaign to end breast ironing.

Please message me with your resume and letter of interest for consideration to join our team of experts.  (best to use internal messaging)

Great Job

Hi Leina,

I must commend you for the great job you are doing. I can see here at World Pulse that your campaign against breast ironing went a long. I am so impressed by the impact the story made. Thank you for drawing global attention to our local Cameroonian story. Unfortunately, I do not fit into any of your volunteer opportunities. However, I am ready to help in any way you deem necessary.

''Every woman have a story at every stage of Life''

The strides you are making to help empower women in Cameroon is commendable. This Center will no doubt create little waves in the community that will eventually have a rippling effect to eventually cause a mighty ocean. Women are world changers and this is a clear example of what we can do when given the opportunity, My prayers are that you will find women who are experts in the areas of specialization you seek to make this project a success. God bless you and your efforts to help Cameroonian women.

I am overwhelmed by your ideas; i wish you and your organization all the best in your search of volunteers. i mean African women need to learn computer skills and therefore gain some power from that. Knowledge is power.

Please, post new information!

I am reading this post for the first time. I live in the States, and if the need is still there I would be happy to start a drive in my community to collect gently used bras to send to the women of Cameroon. Please tell me how I can help!
