Hello!
I am working on Mighty Fingers Facing Change, a global community art project that seeks to empower adolescent girls and unite the organizations that work to support them. I am currently seeking fantastic examples of schools and organizations that educate young women around the world to potentially host part of our global art project. I hope you will take the time to read a bit about it and consider getting involved. Our website has been recently published, and will continue to expand, but please view it here:
http://www.mightyfingersfacingchange.com. Participants and supporters can also follow along on our Facebook Page:http://www.facebook.com/MightyFingersFacingChange.
Mighty Fingers - Facing Change is a 2-part experiential art project
designed to engage and inspire adolescent girls worldwide. The project
will celebrate their individuality through guided self-portrait
exercises and demonstrate the power of collaboration as they work
together to design and execute a global FingerSmear canvas. It will
bring a unifying spotlight to numerous organizations that work to
improve the lives of women and girls in communities around the world.
Through this project, we hope to empower young women and girls to
achieve their dreams, network with strong women and view themselves
positively. We will tour around the world with the project and connect
girls and the organizations that support them in at least 20 locations across six continents.
Mighty Fingers - Facing Change hopes to begin touring in 2013. We
anticipate that it will take 9 -12 months of travel and interaction to
complete the project. Our goal is to travel to a minimum of 20
locations around the world. Domestically, we plan to begin in San
Francisco (birthplace of the FingerSmear), onto Jackson, WY, Austin,
TX and back to the East coast to work once again with the girls from
Cecelia Snyder Middle School, in PA and the girls from Rutgers
University's Young Scholars Program (hosts of our pilot projects).
Through several organizations and friends worldwide, we have
logistical support in The Philippines, Canada, Kenya, Sweden, Japan,
Italy and Chile. Also in development are Alaska, Brazil, China, Sri
Lanka, South Africa, India, Ireland, Russia, Israel, and New Zealand,
and we are open to wherever the wind (and the funding) takes us.
Perhaps it will take us to you!
We're gearing up for a fundraising launch on Kickstarter.com that will
begin on September 15th. To ensure that the project gets off to a strong
start, we are enlisting the help of 50 "Mighty Ambassadors" from
around the world. Each ambassador will rally a small team of
friends that would be interested in a 'girl focused global project'.
Each member of a Mighty Ambassador's team will commit to logging on
within the first 24 hours of the campaign and selecting a reward -
similar to the structure of a pledge drive by NPR, PBS, etc.
We are looking for:
* Bloggers to write about/share our project in exchange for links and Facebook posts from us
* Ambassadors to share the project with their networks of friends
* International organizations who are willing to host us and rally together girls to participate
It is our hope that we might be able to meet some interested people through the strong network that is PulseWire!
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
