My name is Lynn Savarese and as part of my work for the Women's Commission on Refugee Women and Children, I am writing a book about refugee girls and other displaced girls throughout the world, and the special issues they face by virtue of their gender and age. Although I've done a great deal of research, the project cannot be successful without the inclusion of insights and stories told by young women who have had direct experience with these issues, in connection with conflict, flight, displacement and resettlement.
I write you now to request your help in trying to find young women who might be willing to be interviewed for this project, either in person or through electronic means. The Women's Commission will pay $30 per hour of interview time. If anonymity is an issue, it will be provided absolutely.
The plight of displaced girls in the world today is still shrouded in silence and neglect. Only those who are able to talk about this situation first hand have the power to draw the world's attention to the issues faced by these girls. Any guidance, leads or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I can be reached by email, or by phone at 212.595.0133.
Thank you very much for your time and attention.
