Need: A Voice for Women: Rise of the Phoenix Documentary
A few women have told me, “How would I know my worth if nobody ever told me or treated me as if I’m worthy?” Good question. As you know “Gender Awareness” must be raised to help stop on-going gender bias and abuses around the world.
Please allow me to introduce myself: I'm May Tchao, a Chinese American documentary filmmaker, and have been researching on the topic of the rise of women in modern China against the backdrop of cultural gender bias. My film will be feature length and will raise awareness of the changing lives of Chinese women as they confront opportunities and challenges of an industrialized world by making difficult choices and breaking with traditions. Last fall, I have started the production of this film and have assembled some beautiful footage and moving stories. I am seeking more funding in grants or financial resource to complete the production.
This project’s concept transverse boundaries beyond China to appeals to women universally to reassess of their worth and break with oppressive traditions and take charge of their destinies as proposed in my World Pulse blog "Mothers tell your Daughters their Worth."
