Need: Looking for a Computer Literacy/Entrepreneurship Mentor in Nairobi
I am the founder of Moyo Jasiri, a not-for-profit that is empowering women (globally) through entrepreneurship. With a dynamite team of volunteers and advisers, we have created Advancing Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), an online, intensive yet nurturing multi-year business development program for women entrepreneurs. Designed to educate and mentor participants through the crucial start-up years and beyond, AWE embraces a holistic approach to entrepreneurship as each module focuses on a specific stage of creating a business. In a very practical way AWE empowers women to share their dreams, create and execute plans for prosperity, and live to their highest potential.
We currently have 10 women enrolled in our bootcamp that runs through December 16th. At the end of the bootcamp, each woman will have a business plan, business presentation and action plan.
We paired one of the entrepreneurs, Lucy from Nairobi, with a "mentor" in Nairobi. Lucy is just learning to use the computer and come online, so her mentor helped her access our curriculum, complete the assignments, get them into a document and send them back to us. Sadly, her mentor can no longer support her.
The opportunity for Lucy to complete this program is the difference between being a micro-entrepreneur in the informal economy barely scraping by or a small business owner in the formal economy that is employing other women to produce high end artisan crafts.
I personally met Lucy (and literally bought all of her jewelry) when I traveled to Kenya last March. She is warm, wise and entrepreneurial, among traits. If you live in Nairobi, Kenya and have the time and passion or know someone who lives in Nairobi, Kenya and has the time and passion and wants to help an amazing woman, please email me at jennifer@moyojasiri.com
