Need: Nominate an Inspiring Mother

bkcvr_r8_inspiringmothers_medsize.jpgI am writing a book to engage and mobilize mothers; to help them realize their inner strength and wisdom and their untapped potential to be agents of change. Inspiring Mothers: Wisdom and Activism from Mothers Around the World will be the first book to feature 12 stories of mothers improving their communities and beyond through dedicated advocacy. With vibrant photographs and compelling interviews, Inspiring Mothers is a unique and timely collection of stories showing mothers the strength of our voices and stretching the image mothers and our cultures carry about who we are, and what we can accomplish.
Mothers are a universal symbol of the unique power women have to get things done, to survive insurmountable odds, and to help others in need. Yet some, overwhelmed with the responsibility of raising children and running households, say “I’m concerned about the world- I just don’t have time or energy to make a difference.” They assume it must be a full-time job to be an advocate. These are the women Inspiring Mothers will reach out to with a message and living examples that even small actions can make a big difference and your voice does create momentum for change. This book will show us what mothers, as individuals and as a collective force, can do when we unite to create social justice.
We would like to hear stories about exemplary mothers from around the world who meet the following criteria:
* a mother (birth or adoptive) to children under age 19,
* involved in advocacy for women’s or children’s issues at a local or national level, and
* initiating positive change in her community
