Background:

Operational in Southern Sudan since 1994, American Refugee Committee (ARC) implements a multi-sectoral program that includes water and sanitation, primary and reproductive health care, HIV/AIDS and gender based violence prevention and response, and activities geared towards creating economic opportunities for returning populations.

ARC’s South Sudan Gender Based Violence (GBV) program aims to strengthen the quality and accessibility of services for survivors of GBV and reduce incidence of GBV through creative participatory community change activities. ARC is currently implementing GBV prevention and response programming in 8 program sites throughout South Sudan, as well as leading national coordination and advocacy efforts.
Primary Purpose of the Position:

The GBV Program Coordinator will assume direct responsibility for the management and coordination of ARC’s multi-site GBV program in South Sudan. The GBV Program Coordinator is responsible for providing technical support to all aspects of GBV programming in South Sudan, with an emphasis on leading advocacy and coordination activities at the national level.
Requirements:

Masters Degree in Social Work, International Human Rights, Law or other related field.
Minimum 5 years international experience implementing GBV prevention and response programs in emergency and post conflict environments.
Strong knowledge of GBV best practice tools including IASC GBV Guidelines, GBV IMS, GBV SOPs, GBV Coordinators Handbook, etc.
Strong grant and staff management in post conflict/transitional settings.
Experience in participatory methods for community education and mobilization.
Excellent facilitation, training and research skills.
Diplomacy and assertiveness; the ability to confront and discuss sensitive issues with respect.
Good communication skills, with good spoken and written English.
Excellent report writing, research documentation and presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience of monitoring and evaluating projects.
