Need: Looking for patners and sponsorship for a TV reality program

Hi all,
Having been on worldpulse for a long time now, I have come to learn alot of things and my understanding of women issues has widened.
I have also thought of using worldpulse term VOICES ARAISING because it through Worldpulse that my Voice has been made strong and ascended high.
I continue to see women lacking behind in many things especially in my country due to a lot of issues around them.women continue to face pains and all sorts of abuse, not because they want to but because their voices are not raised, they cannot come up in open not because they don't want to but because they do not have access to several organisations or people who can help them. Although there are many organisations out there to assist them, usually they do not know how and where they are found. Other women can know where to find these organisations but because they are not empowered or encouraged by fellow women who have overcome such challege, they are scared to open up. But through this reality show, it will give women an opportunity to have access to contact to women organisations, will have the courage and power to stand against all odds and speak out through the experiances of other women and phoning in to this program. This program will be designed for local women, even those who are illiterate and can not speak out.

It is for this reason that I am looking for patners and sponsors to see to it that this program can be aired on a local TV station, so that women can share their experiances, dialogue with men and together with several organisations we can help to find a solution to many issues affecting women.

In order to increase Knowledge about women rights, their potential and status in society, troughhrough the media discussion,we are proposing a television reality show, which will deal with issues that include:

• Violet against women
• Women empowerment
• Stigma and discrimination
• Property grabbing
• Antiretroviral treatment
• Prevention of Mother to child transmission(PMCT)
• Women, Child abuse and sexual exploitation
• Poverty Reduction especially at household level etc

Small title for the project:

We realize that although abuse against women and poverty is a big problem which requires con-certed efforts especially from men government and women themselves to effectively combat the problem. Upholding and respecting women rights is an entry point to development of the family and nation as a whole.Women remain to be victims of many forms of abuse which include sexual, physical, sexual and live in poverty. This is as a result of some traditional cultures which promote women inferiority, illiteracy, lack of information and knowledge on their rights, empowerment and existing servicess in their localities. Women continue to suffer the cruelty in the corners of their homes because they believe that’s what a woman is all about. Others might want to share but feel no one out there would want to listen to my story or experiance. How ever Voices Arising a reality television show will seek to highlight the challenges of women, their perservance, and solution as a proactive measure to fighting the snares surrounding women and a way to attaining good health and development for local women. The show recognizes life skills as fundamentals for any woman whether HIV positive or not, to manage their health, social-economical life and subsequently sur-vive. Voice Arising will also deal with other issues ranging from poverty, gender based violence, Child abuse Harassments, HIV and AIDS etc that adversely impact on efforts aimed at combating women challeges.

On this reality show, women will share their experiences pertaining their difficulties, how they are making a living and different organizations be featured to discuss this issues and solution to women challeges. This show will also integrate story telling, one on one interview and feature Celebrities/ personalities, as well as community leaders. This is to make the programme entertaining and add more effect.

The aims of the programme are to.

• Discourage violence against women
• Increase personal belief and responsibility in upholding women right.
• Discourage stigma and Discrimination
• Encourage Government to promote women rights and appoint more women leaders in decision making.
• Encourage women self empowerment and self dependence.
• Discourage abuse of children and sexual Exploitation.
• Encourage good individual efforts to eradicate poverty especially at house hold level
• Encourage HIV positive women on healthy living.
• Promote unity and cooperation among families

Advocating for a holistic, social transformation through the media.

Women in Zambia continue to face all forms of ill treatment which has crippled their development. Women who are disadvantaged due to certain cultural norms which threaten them and hiders their joy remain in the dark and become captives in their own homes. Illiteracy and lack of knowledge and information on their rights is also a contributing factors to why so many women face abuse.
Lastest Zambia demographic health survey reveals that 52 percent of women aged between 15 and 49 are reported to has experienced either physical or sexual violence and 15 percent had both physi-cal and sexual violence
In 2009 alone the survey shows 8,261 cases of gender based violence (GBV) were reported to law enforcement and traditional authorities of which only 1,855 (22 percent) were prosecuted(News from Africa 2011).
Moreover, Men, and government are key players in our current effort to combat women abuse in Zambia. As they increase their understanding of women issues especially on how to uphold women rights, they will see the significance of a woman and how if supported can be the contribute to the development of the nation as a whole.

In Zambia, women will continue to face abuse and live in poverty if awareness is not widespread hence the need for voices arising will help in laying a foundation for women right recognition and promotion.
Thus there is need for increased knowledge on the promotion of women rights. There is also need for open discussions on women issues, cultures practices, sexuality etc especially at household level
There This will reduce all forms of violence against women and help n promoting human rights.

This project will reach out to approximately 2,000,000 (two million) people. The project will provide a good platform for sharing experiences and learning practical ways of the dealing with issues concerning women. The discussions and performances on the reality show will incorporate lessons with life skills development and hence encourage debate, open dialogue/interaction and stimulate positive action. In this way people will be equipped with knowledge and life skills that they will utilize to promote women rights.

• TO promote women rights and women leadership.
• To encourage couple dialogue on issues affecting them.
• To discourage culture practices that hide promotion of women rights.
• To discourage stigma and discrimination
• To sensitize people on the effects sexual abuse of women and young girls.
• To discourage gender based violence and encourage constructive resolutions of con-flicts in homes.
• To share with a wider audience ways of managing the HIV as well as the social eco-nomic aspects of life for the woman that are living with HIV.
• To strengthen collaboration between Government, NGOs, churches and Communi-ties in the promotion of women rights.

All the episodes of the reality programme shall incorporate phone calls, text messages form the viewers so that they can contribute and ask questions. This is to asses the impact of the programme

Voices arising will compile a financial report and attach receipts; the financial report will be sub-mitted to the sponsor organization.
