Need: Empowering Sri Lankan rural women with Information Technology (IT) Knowledge

Dear friends,

I'm with the intention of initiating a program "Empowering Sri Lankan rural women with Information Technology (IT) knowledge". If you have any experience regarding empowering rural women with IT knowledge please be kind enough to share with me.
As there is a huge number of rural women in my country who are willing to have this knowledge it is a great great help if I can have your ideas and start my program. And actually I do not have any funding yet. But I start it by collecting the women and with the power of women who are in need of that.

Thank you
Madhubhashini

Some suggestions

Dear Madu,

This sounds like a an exciting and powerful idea! Can you share some more information? If you provide more detail about what the challenge is, how this will address it, who does it serve, what do you need to be successful at it, and more about who you are, you may have a better chance of getting some helpful responses!

Iam doing the same initiave

Iam doing the same initiave with rural women here in Uganda and its quiet interesting! I conducted the first training end of last year and it wa amazing how these rural women embraced technology. It was ground on using ICTs to combat violence against women. I trained women to how to use basic computer applications and internet. I also tackled use of mobile telephones especially sms. Women were able to send bulk sms using front line sms to raise awareness on VAW, they blogged as well. As you know ofcourse there are challenges of internet conectivity and power in rural areas. Its slowly and steady...
