Offer: Job: Access to Justice Coordinator, Guatemala

The Access to Justice Coordinator, based in Guatemala, will be a full-time consultant responsible for managing activities with civil society organizations (“CSOs”) and legal clinics in the country, and supervising consultants in Nicaragua and Honduras. The Coordinator will manage a regional program to strengthen citizen access to justice by combating impunity, raising citizen awareness of civil and political rights, and increasing availability of legal services to marginalized and vulnerable communities in Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to providing expertise and advancing program objectives in access to justice and human rights, maintaining partnerships and coordinate activities with local partners, provide administrative, logistical and financial support related to the program.

A advanced degree in law, political science, public policy, management or a related field is required. Work experience with CSOs in Guatemala is desirable. Strong managerial, supervision skills and previous USG grant management experience required.

Speaking/reading/writing fluency in Spanish is required. Additional fluency in English is strongly preferred.

La Iniciativa para el Estado de Derecho del Colegio de Abogados de los Estados Unidos anticipa la apertura de una posición para un consultor experto en materia de Acceso de a la Justicia, basado en Guatemala. Este consultor, de medio tiempo, deberá asumir la responsabilidad sobre la gestión de actividades con organizaciones de la sociedad civil (“OSC”) y centros de asistencia jurídica en el país así como también será responsable por la supervisión de consultores en Honduras y Nicaragua. El Coordinador se encargará de un programa regional para fortalecer el acceso a la justicia de la ciudadanía, mediante la lucha contra la impunidad, la concienciación ciudadana de los derechos civiles y políticos, y el aumento de la disponibilidad de servicios legales a las comunidades marginadas y vulnerables de Guatemala, Nicaragua y Honduras.

Las responsabilidades del cargo incluyen, pero no se limitan, a prestar asesoramiento y promoción de los objetivos del programa de acceso a la justicia y derechos humanos, el mantenimiento de relaciones con asociaciones y la coordinación de las actividades con los socios locales, prestar apoyo administrativo, logístico y financiero relacionado con el programa.

Candidatos interesados tendrán que contar con un postgrado en derecho, ciencias políticas, políticas públicas, de gestión u otro campo relacionado. Previa experiencia de trabajo con las OSC en Guatemala es deseable. Tendrán preferencia aquellos candidatos con una fuerte capacidad de gestión de proyectos y experiencia previa en concesión/subvención con fondos del gobierno Estadounidense.

Dominio del español (hablado/escrito/lectura) es necesario, fluidez en ingles es preferido.
