Background
Gender Training Institute (GTI) is a centre for feminist leadership under the Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP). Since 1993, the institute under Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP) has been providing transformative gender training and capacity development services based on animation/participatory approaches. The core purpose of GTI is to provide learning and capacity development in support for transformative feminist movement building, policy engagement and social transformation at all levels within the country and beyond. The organization’s vision is to becometheepicenter for feminism transformation through effective capacity building”.
Course Summary
This interactive training draws participants from all over Africa with the objective of strengthening their gender analytical skills and capacities in the on-going debates, policies, programmes, and activities related to HIV and AIDS. Participants are drawn from government, NGOs, CBOs, media, policy-makers, private sectors and others. In the training, participants share information, experiences and lessons learnt in addressing HIV& AIDS issues in the continent. They also articulate challenges and opportunities in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of progressive and gender focused HIV interventions as well as develop concrete action plans to address gender gaps/ issues within HIV&AIDS policies and programmes in their areas.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the course the participants will be able to:
Solicit and facilitate sharing of information and experiences on Gender, Policy and HIV issues within the sub region.
Articulate with conceptual clarity key gender concepts relating to policy issues around HIV and AIDS interventions.
Adopt a conceptual framework for gender analysis on the causality of inequalities in relation to HIV and AIDS in the sub-regions.
Identify constraints and gaps in existing policies and intervention programmes related to HIV and AIDS within the Sub-region.
Plan, formulate and manage progressive and gender sensitive interventions and develop indicators for monitoring gender impact on HIV and AIDS.
Develop concrete plans of action for addressing the gender gaps within policies and programmes for more effective and sustainable interventions in the areas of their specific mandates
Mode of application

Letter from the sponsoring institution indicating financial support (or letter from applicant stating that participation cost will be covered by him/herself) and

Course Costs
The course fee for non - Tanzanians is USD 2500 which will cover facilitation fees, training materials, in-country transport and field visit during training, meals between training, venue internet and library services.
The course fees for Tanzanians are Tshs. 950,000 and it covers facilitation fees, training materials, and field visit during training, meals, and training venue, internet and library services
* Please note thatthe cost of participation does not include international travel between the participants' home country, accommodation, visa charges and health insurance.
