Offer: Bluhm/Helfand Social Innovation Fellowship, Open to Social Entrepreneurs Under 35 from Around the World

Application deadline: July 5, 2011

The Bluhm/Helfand Social Innovation Fellowship, in partnership with Chicago Ideas Week, will award five young socially-conscious leaders who have developed ventures addressing critical social needs, and provides them with exposure to nationally recognized business and community leaders, funding to support their cause, and a platform for growth. The Fellowship was created by philanthropists and entrepreneurs Leslie Bluhm and David Helfand to help advance the next generation of socially-minded innovators, entrepreneurs and change agents.

We encourage social entrepreneurs under the age of 35 from across the globe, working in either for-profit or not-for-profit ventures, to apply for this unique opportunity.

The five fellowship recipients will be hosted in Chicago for Chicago Ideas Week, taking place October 10-16 2011*, all expenses paid. Fellows will gain exposure for their organization, establish a community of support, and receive a $10,000 financial contribution for their venture.

Select members of the fellowship class will be chosen to present their social venture alongside established professionals in the field during a 300-500 person event celebrating social entrepreneurship.

Media visibility will be plentiful during Chicago Ideas Week. Specifically, Fellows will benefit from the exclusive partnerships Chicago Ideas Week has with leading local & national media partners, including Fast Company, Chicago Tribune, and NBC Chicago.

Formal meetings and sit-downs with prominent leaders, including Mayor Richard M. Daley, Chairman of Equity Group Investments Sam Zell, Groupon Chairman and Co-Founder Eric Lefkofsky, GrubHub Co-Founder and CEO Matthew Maloney, and others, will provide Fellows with unparalleled guidance and opportunities.

Team-building activities throughout the week will allow the Fellowship class to form bonds that will transcend the weeklong experience.
