Dear GWA members,
From 25 to 27 June 2008, the International Symposium on Women, Water and
Waste took place in Manila, the Philippines. During the symposium it was
agreed to create an Assembly of Institutions for Gender Mainstreaming in
Water and Waste in Asia (AGWWA), a loose network of institutions to follow
through the recommendations of the Symposium. During the Symposium, the
Philipine Women's University promissed to provide the Secretariat to support
AGWWA.
As some of our members might be interested to join AGGWA, I am attaching:
"Framework of Cooperation" , describing the rationale, background, goals and
structure of AGWWA,
"Manila Declaration on Women, Water and Waste", describing the principles
AGWWA will adher to,
If your organisation would like to join AGWWA, please send Lilia Casanova of
the Phillipine Women's Unviersity an e-mail (lils_casanova@ yahoo.com)
indicating your interest. She is the Director of the Environmental
Management and Education Program and Adviser of the AGWWA Secretariat, and
will be able to assist you in joining.
With kind regards,
