Need: help me to participate in the one young world conference 2011

Namaste and Hello Everyone,

I am NILIMA RAUT from NEPAL. I am doing my masters in Mass Communication and Journalism. I am the member of Rotaract, I have served rotaract as vice president (2008/09) & president ( 2009/10) of Rotaract Club of Charumati and now Public Relation Officer(2010/11) for Rotaract District Committee 3292 Nepal. I had even won the ‘MISS ROTASIA 2010’ award in the south asian rotaract conference, held in India. I was recently selected as an OUTSTANDING CANDIDATE to represent NEPAL at the One Young World conference, taking place in September 2011 in Switzerland (www.oneyoungworld.com). I am looking for sponsorship to cover the 3,000 Euro tuition (My profile on one young world http://www.oneyoungworld.com/community/detail.asp?del_ID=4545 ).

LOOKING BACK- I was born in the small village in Nepal where the different form of discrimination still exists in the name of traditions. My mom used to share her stories of how she and her sister suffered only because they were women. And my mom had faced so many problems just because they had girls children not son. it represents the cruelty of the conservative society. Though my parents were from the conservative world, they never let us suffer in the same, they gave every opportunity to learn and make ourselves strong person ready to face every challenge in the society. So it directed me to work for the positive impact in my society and the world. I am proud to have such parents and its my turn to make them feel proud.

THE WAY I SEE- Community service has been the part of my life, either it was in school through RED CROSS and GREEN CLUB or now through ROTARACT and my job. And communication has been the best skills I ever had. Being a student of mass communication, regular reporting job had never excited me, because I always want to make my communication skills-a part of peace and community development. I desire to be the expert in the international communication and the part of peace and community development. I believe in the power of communication and media and how it can help on development of the society. Empowerment causes development, development only succeeds when every member of the society is empowered.

ONE YOUNG WORLD & ME- The conference is described as "the premier global forum for young people of leadership calibre. It manifests the reality of common humanity and the shared existence of all the peoples in one world, Its purpose is to connect and bring together the youngest, brightest and best and to ensure that their concerns, opinions and solutions are heard www.oneyoungworld.com.

Being selected as an OUTSTANDING CANDIDATE to attend the conference has built the confidence in me and I believe attending to this conference would be extremely empowering and motivating. It would be the best opportunity to learn and to raise voice against the many social issues that has created the obstacles for women empowerment and community development. It would certainly help me to gain knowledge on global perspectives and also use it back in the project on menstruation hygiene that I have recently started.
