Offer: offering computer parts

I have a friend who has closed his computer building/repairing business here in McMinnville and has a garage filled with computer parts. Does someone have a computer building business in Africa or know someonw qualified to start one, who could use parts?

Shipping will be the expense involved, as the parts will be given to a person with a need or dream.
Thoughts?

South Africa!

William,

Thank you for sharing this wonderful resource.

World Pulse has been working with a local nonprofit, Ankur International, who gave us a laptop to giveaway at the 2008 AIDS Conference in Mexico City. (read about the winner here: http://beta.pulsewire.net/node/3412)

I am wondering if your friend's supplies and Ankur International might be a good match? Jensine and Leah are going to the AWID (Association for Women's Rights in Development) conference in South Africa in November and would love to give more laptops away.

In partnership,
Jennifer

free computer parts

Hi Jennifer,

Somebody might be able to build a laptop from my friends parts, but not myself. I believe getting modern hard-drives is the key.

Have you tried getting some computer dealer to sell you one wholesale and then fund-raising to pay for it?

peace,
William

how can I write to another member directly and privately?

Private messaging

William,

Great question! First, make sure you know the members username. Then, you can send and receive private messages by accessing your "Inbox" from the MyVoice tab, or from the tool bar on your right. After that, it should feel familiar, like any basic messaging system.

Best,
jennifer

may be i have an idea

hello William,

I have a friend in town, currently is helping provide internet services to the community at a low charge. But when i was talking to him, he showed interests of dealing in computer parts like hard drives, motherboards, etc.
He is planning to get a loan from the bank to start the computer parts selling business but if the offer is given to him there could be no need of getting a loan. Do you think it might be a good match?.

I can tell him to contact you via Plusewire and see how that offer my be of use to the community.

Let me know if you could like the offer to come to Uganda.

computer parts

Dear Ivan,

My friend said he has a few small motherboards and small memory disk drives. What he has is many other parts that go into making and upgrading computers. He used to build computer systems and upgrade computers, like put in sound, etc.

Your friend should have a definate goal about selling to others. Maybe he has the ability to build computers, but that does take technical training. Have him figure out how to sell something that will be sustainable: he has someone from whom he can always buy goods, so he will become known for that product.

I'll be happy to get answers to any other questions he may have. Best of luck to you, Ivan.
peace,
William
