Dear Friend,
My name is Karambu Ringera. I work with an organization called International Peace Initiatives (IPI: www.ipeacei.org). IPI works with communities to mitigate the impact of disease (HIV/AIDS), poverty and violence as these affect women and children. The goal of our work is to empower women and children to overcome challenges related to these issues.
I have been working hard to gain more skills to bring to my communities with regard to peacebuilding and reconciliation. As you may know, my country experience post-election violence in 2008 and many have not healed since. Our coalition government is limping along and I feel we need to work hard to prevent a recurrent of violence in 2012. The role of women in changing the conflict scenario in my country is critical and giving them skills to make this happen is urgent.
I have been invited to attend a Power of Reconciliation training in Mumbai from February 8-13th offered by Satyana Institute. This training offers a great opportunity to learn how to bridge the gender gap in our communities. I will then bring these skills back to my trainings in Kenya. I have done some training hours in South Africa and need this Mumbai training (and one more) to complete my required hours so I can be a certified facilitator. Then I can do these trainings in my country among others.
The goal of this message is to request you to please consider supporting me/linking me with organizations that can support me to enable me attend this important training.
I have already raised $500 and need $1,500 to enable me participate at this event.
