Are you passionate about new media and social change? Do you want to use your creativity and web skills to help Americans see beyond stereotypes, build international connections and peace, and change war’s political and cultural enablers? Join IARP and put your skills to work for positive social change locally and globally.

The New Media Intern will be given significant responsibility and opportunity to develop and maintain IARP’s web and social media presence for our "Navigating the Aftermath" campaign. This seven-month campaign will use art, film, and events to engage Minnesotans and Americans in reflection, dialogue, and action around the effects of the Iraq War and ways to move forward toward healing and a more peaceful future. The intern will work with a team to develop dynamic web pages and a strong web and social media presence to engage target audiences. As a new media intern, you will gain hands-on experience and be given a large degree of responsibility that will be an asset for a future career in multimedia and graphics, project management, or web software development. Outstanding students or recent grads in New Media or Computer Science are strongly encouraged to apply.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Approximately 10-25 hours per week (or as determined by selected applicant's schedule).
Specific dates of internship are negotiable.
Compensation: depends on experience and time available. Intern will also gain significant experience in using new media for social change and will play a key role in the campaign's media strategy. If you are a student, optional credit can be applied for.
Location: because this is a web-based internship, intern can work from anywhere. Intern does not need to be in Minnesota, where IARP's offices are located.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Interest in and knowledge of social media and website development for social change
HTML and CSS skills; Photoshop skills a plus
Ability to manage time and work effectively without close supervision
High standards of accuracy and attention to detail
Interest in international relations, peace-building, or international non-profit organizations helpful
