Offer: Stories of young women in Southern Africa
Comrades,
CIET (Community Information for Empowerment and Transparency), recently embarked on a project that aims to empower young women in rural communities and from disadvantaged backgrounds. The project is taxing because it redefines the concept of aid; encouraging these young women to think outside the box, to define their future, to empower themselves. With support and guidance from the CIET team, the young women are encouraged to come up with business ideas, and more importantly, they are encouraged to think of ways of kick starting their business (writing of business plans, fundraising, negotiating etc).
This is what I was talking about in a previous post (where I was advocating the concept of starting small while thinking big). Granted it is not easy for these young women, it requires resilience, determination and sometimes tears, but this is what life is about; meaning that the young women become active participants in your own lives, they are alive; living not just existing.
The stories are written for the young women (some are illiterate or semi literate), to motivate them, to connect them and to inspire them. I thought I should share some of their stories; amazing young women.......
love and solidarity,
Grace
