Ebony Youth and Orphans Support Initiative as a project idea was formulated in 2003, by a group of five former Centre for African Families Trainer of Trainers in HIV/AIDS community based care and support services.
Come 2005, the organization was registered by the Kenyan Ministry of Gender, Culture and Social Services as a community based organization with Reference Number 3261. The goal of the organization is to empower vulnerable groups in the community with a focus on youth and widows.
EYOSIK envisions a world whereby youths and other vulnerable groups (widows and orphans) have a voice in development activities affecting them. The goal of the organization is to improve the lives of vulnerable groups specifically widows and orphans to enable them lead happy, healthy and independent lives.
Ebony Youth and Orphans Support Initiative Kenya has a team of trainers in Home based care, Supervision , Monitoring and Evaluation of community based care and support services, Youth Peer Education and Economic Social and Cultural Rights.
We solicit for organizations that are in need of training services and conduct the training for them.
Home based care training
The goal of the training is to develop skills of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs) and those affected in care and support delivery and further transfer these skills to the HIV infected and affected.
The other goal is to improve the quality of life for the PLHA and reduce HIV/AIDS related stigma and discrimination in the community
The above training is of two types, i.e. Training of Trainers (TOT) and Training of service providers. Tots are in addition provided with skills in conducting trainings in the community including sessions on public speaking and effective delivery. They are also empowered on development of work plans on home based care.
The Home based care training takes a duration of 2 weeks, it includes a field visit to organizations dealing with HIV such as those dealing with children infected/affected by HIV, Women living with HIV/AIDS .During field visits, trainees also visit families affected by HIV/AIDS and provide practice home based care services i.e. link what has been learnt in class with what happens in the field (theory to practice).
Duration: 2 weeks
Memory Book Development Training
The goals of the training are:
To help in documenting family history
Improve communication among family members
Help siblings keep in touch after their parents death
Help prepare children for final separation
Duration: 4 days
Economic Social and Cultural Rights training
This is tailor made for various organizations and entails taking participants through various Human Rights documents as well as advocacy on human rights.ESCR training also entail sessions on legal rights awareness
Duration: 5days
Youth peer Education Training
This training package empowers youths on behaviour change, formation of youth peer education clubs as well as empowerment on public speaking and basic business skills for youth livelihood development.
Duration: 5days
Logistics
. The client is responsible for accommodation and food for participants during the training including stationery. After the training, the client is provided with a comprehensive training report.The costs of the trainings are negotiable .
