Need: The Proper Walk
The Proper Walk is an "adventure for a cause" created by Michael Farley, a former Peace Corps volunteer stationed in Makindu, Kenya East Africa. The Proper Walk is a biannual event that raises money for the Makindu Children's Program (MCP), a 501c-3 supporting the MCC (Makindu Children's Centre). The MCC is a day use facility that cares for more than 300 AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children in Makindu.
Proper Walk 2008 is the fourth walkathon. Each walker raises a minimum of $10,000 and pays their own way to walk in the Northern Frontier of Kenya to assist the AIDS orphans of Makindu and to help raise AIDS awareness.

"If there is one last great African journey, this might be it: 160 miles (257.5 kilometers) of wildest Kenya, a trek done in the style of the old explorers, a pack of seriously ornery camels, and one really good cause."
Tim Cahill, National Geographic Adventure magazine, September 2005
