Offer: Youth Sexuality Institute 2010
The Youth Sexuality Institute 2010 will be held 7th – 8th February 2010, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It directly precedes the 4th Africa Conference on Sexual Health and Rights.
Goal:
To contribute to the creation of a generation of young people who have a positive view about human sexuality and are empowered to make safe and responsible choices.
Objectives:
Participants at the Youth sexuality Institute will have the opportunity to:
Develop a better understanding of their sexuality, clarify their values and affirm their sexual health and rights;
Build the skills to prevent violation of their bodily integrity, take care of their sexual health, and express love and intimacy in responsible ways.
Understand gender and rights and how these issues have an impact on how they choose to exercise their sexuality in a positive way.
Requirements for Application:
Eligible applicants for the Institute must be:
between 18 – 25 years of age
Have a commitment to undertake efforts to promote adolescent and youth sexual and bodily health and rights at national and international levels;
Represent an organization/institution engaged in sexual and reproductive health and rights advocacy, research or fieldwork;
Be fluent in English or French.
Have a valid passport and able to travel.
Special considerations will be given to young people living with disabilities, with HIV/AIDS and open about their status, LGBTIs, from Francophone/Lusophone countries.
Completed applications should be submitted to 4srhconference@ippfaro.org not later than Friday, 8th January 2010. Any application received after the date will be disqualified.
Participation at the Youth Sexuality Institute will be fully funded (Travel including visa cost, accommodation and perdiems) for the duration of the Institute. Please note that the scholarships for the Youth Sexuality Institute will not cover participation at the main 4th Africa Conference on Sexual Health and Rights. Youth delegates attending the Conference would have to seek alternative sources of funding for the Conference.
The medium of instruction and discussions will be English and French.
