Need: Sexual Behaviour and HIV Prevention Amongst Youth

In-School Initiatives to Compliment Mass Media Strategies for Safer Sexual Behaviour and HIV Prevention Amongst Cameroonian Youth.

DESCRIPTION
The target population is rural and urban middle school students in the North- West and South West Regions of Cameroon. The overall goal of the project is to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and STIs among youth in Cameroon.

Objectives

* To increase the HIV/AIDS awareness of middle school students in North-West and South-West Regions of Cameroon and cultivate self-confidence and healthy attitudes toward their own physical and emotional development during puberty as well as encouraging a positive attitude to people living with HIV.
* To build the capacity of teachers within 2 000 middle schools in North-West and South-West regions to better understand and respond to the sexual health needs of their students.
* To provide an enabling environment through advocacy initiatives to key local educational policy makers and headmasters, including a study tour to Cameroon and experience-sharing workshops.

Hi Laura,

Thanks for your enthusiasm to get involve ,network and partnering in our project.The project is to begin on the 1st of July-1O July 2009 in Bamenda North-West Region with capacity building.Training local educators especially young girls,teachers ,students and policy makers during holidays from rural communities on sexual behavior and HIV and AIDS. It will cover topics that march in line with our objectives.

To increase the HIV/AIDS awareness of middle school students in North-West and South-West Regions of Cameroon and cultivate self-confidence and healthy attitudes toward their own physical and emotional development during puberty as well as encouraging a positive attitude to people living with HIV.
* To build the capacity of teachers within 2 000 middle schools in North-West and South-West regions to better understand and respond to the sexual health needs of their students.
* To provide an enabling environment through advocacy initiatives to key local educational policy makers and headmasters, including a study tour to Cameroon and experience-sharing workshops.

We are currently seeking support for this project which is geared to occupy and empower students during holidays and enable them to be conscious of their sexual behavior and HIV-AIDS.They will carry the shills acquired during the training to their various localities of our outreach project.

We are therefore seeking sponsors and partners for this project.
