The First Annual Small City, BIG Difference Benefit Dinner for The Action Center
This event is the product of a grass-roots, youth-led initiative in Camas, Washington to promote humanitarian activism through the message of advocacy. Beginning as a four-week workshop series on global hunger, the group developed a motto: "Start the Ripple, Spread the Knowledge, See the Change." As an initial project to promote education, advocacy, and action in the community, the group is hosting a benefit gala dinner with all proceeds going to Mercy Corps' Action Center, opening this Fall. Hoping to capture the Action Center's message, the event will emphasize the importance of understanding hunger as a complex issue and of using knowledge as the strongest tool in the fight to eradicate poverty. Program will include musical performances, remarks from Small City, Big Difference members, and a presentation by Julie Mancini, Director of the Portland Action Center.
