CAP is in the initial stages of planning the Shanaakht Festival of 2009. The five-day festival, will be held from the 8-12th of April, 2009, and will feature photo and art exhibitions, fusion musical collaborations, documentaries, interactive plays, street theatre, audio-video installations, oral story telling and various forms of oral based presentations cantered on the theme of identity. This will build on the theme of the first Shanaakht Festival in 2007 that documented the incredible experiences of the partition generation so that Pakistanis could understand the roots of their identity. This unique festival facilitates history and culture being brought to life through interactive exhibits in varied genres.

The five-day festival which will be held at the Karachi Arts Council, in the heart of the city will be accessible to the general public. It will host exhibitions curated specifically for Shanaakht as well as unique performances and lectures centred around Pakistan's past and present identity.
