Mother Earth Water Walk
The Mother Earth Water walk takes place in Canada each year. It is organized by a group of Anishinabe women
who take time each year to walk around one of Canada's Great Lakes to raise awareness about water contamination and conservation.
An Anishinabe prophesied that "In about 30 years, if we humans continue with our negligence, an ounce of drinking water will cost the same as an ounce of gold."
Many First Nations reserves in Canada have high levels of unemployment, poverty, violence, and water resource contamination.
