I'm Keeping My Light On! Community Training & Healing Family Matters Night

Event Date:
September 6, 2013 - 09:00 - September 7, 2013 - 01:00

I’m a survivor of family violence and this year we will host our prevention outreach event on the same day I was almost killed 39 years ago on Sept, 6, 1974 when my children’s father shot me in the face with a twelve gauge shotgun. Since family violence and sexual assault back then was so taboo, my only hope was “turning my porch-light on” to signal the neighbors to call the police whenever I was being abuse. While remembering that “light of hope”, this year’s Therapeutic Community theme message is entitled, “I’m Keeping My Light On”. We hope to make this an international Campaign to appeal to people to join us in turning their home, church, or business porch-lights on across the nation in memory of the thousands of teens, women, and men who have died as a result of dating/domestic violence, bullying/gang violence, sexual assault etc. The “I’m Keeping My Light On” Campaign will host a Prevention Educational Training scheduled for Friday, September 6, 2013. This event is open to the public free of charge. This therapeutic community awareness outreach training will provide solution-focused education on the increasing statistics of domestic violence and silent dating violence among teens as well as the faith communities. We will present free educational prevention strategies for issues such as depression, suicidal thoughts, demonic possession, human trafficking, and mental illness problems that are overtaking men, women, teens, and even clergy today from all ages, races, and religions. We need your prayers and help!

In observance of Family Violence awareness month in October, our goal is to Campaign before this awareness month to make domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and mental health issues an everyday awareness rather than annually since women and teens are dying daily.

TURN YOUR Porch-light on and/or Light a Candle on Sept 6th between the hours of 3am and 11:00pm (Central time) or YOUR Region TIME during these hours. SEE YOUTUBE VIDEO:

Thanks in advance for your kind support. I'm counting on YOU!
