KEEPING MY DREAM ALIVE

Event Date:
December 8, 2011 - 08:00 - December 12, 2011 - 05:00

Background
Hundreds of thousands of girls in Kenya have had their dreams or life desires cut short or tumbled. The bright and successful future that these girls dreamt about when they were young no longer hold as strong as then. Remember the old saying ‘when I grow Up I want to be a ……………’
The Camp
This is a camp for girls who want to reclaim their dream back. It is for the girls who are determined to fight back and refocus on their aspirations. The participants will have a rare opportunity to share their experiences and dreams with their peers and receive inspirations from girls who have rediscovered their dreams and gone back to school. The camp will be facilitated by experienced trainers and offers unique blend of theoretical, practical and football
Participants
Are you a girl who dropped out of school either primary or secondary! Did you complete Class 8 or Form 4 and still staying at home! Are you a girl who has gone back to school after staying home for while! Are you passionate, determined and want to reclaim your dream of becoming a successful person in the near future! If the answer is yes, then this is your camp.
Activities
The camp will have the theoretical sessions which will cover topical issues as raised by you, Practical session which will cover sharing of experiences among the girls and finally a football tournament where the wining team will take a trophy called Wasichana Tunaweza ( Girls We Can).
Where will the Camp Be?
St. Teresa’s Secondary school-Sinyereri will provide us with rooms and facilities where the girls will stay. These are simple facilities including a classroom where the girls will sleep, kitchen where food will be prepared, water, security etc. The training/ interactive sessions and meals will be held in the school, the football tournament will be held at the TYSA field, a 10 minutes’ walk from the school. TYSA will provide simple lunch and supper (i.e. Githeri- mixer of maize with beans, Ugali with vegetables). We ask that you make arrangements in providing breakfast for your group. This can be done in group once the whole team is here from other parts of the country. We ask that each group carries their own mattress and beddings plus personal effects.
Camp Dates
Participants arrive on the Friday 9th December and depart on 13th December 2011.
Please confirm your participation at the earliest opportunity before 18th November as only 4 teams will have a chance to participate in this year’s edition.
