6th Southern Africa Social Forum on Political, Economic, and Social Crises - Lusaka

The main theme is Southern Africa for Actions against Political, Economic and Social Crises. Participants from the following countries are expected: Zambia (host), Zimbambwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, Malawi, South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia, Angola and others.

In the first day, after Registration and Opening Sessions, the main presentations will concern “Governance, Polices and Trade issues in SADC Region”. Among plenary sessions and other activities, day one and two of the Forum will hold the following thematic tents:

Tent 1 - Global Financial / Crisis on SADC
Tent 2 - Universal Education
Tent 3 - Debt & Trade-Regional Integration
Tent 4 - Food Security & Land
Tent 5 - Gender & Women rights
Tent 6 - Youth
Tent 7 – HIV/AIDS & Health
Tent 8 - Governance & Human rights (Sexual Minorities)
Tent 9 - Social Services
Tent 10 - Indigenous peoples & Ethnic Minorities Rights
Tent 11 - Region & peacemaking
Tent 12 - Labour
Tent 13 - Media Arts and Culture
Tent 14 - Cross Borders
Tent 15 - Environment & Climate change

The night of the second day will have a Social Activists Night (with cultural groups performing arts). Day three will have presentations of the Consolidated Group, recommendations by the Resolution Committee and Tree Planting, as well as the SASF Declaration for further Actions.
