World Affairs Council of Oregeon Presents a Special International Women’s Day presentation

FATEMEH FAKHRAIE

With grass-roots revolutions teeming across the Middle-East, the voices of everyday citizens are becoming more and more resonant. One of the forces fueling this revolution is the significant rise of social media, and a powerful presence of online feminist activism. With the IWD theme of “equal access to education, training and science and technology” in mind, Fatemeh Fakhraie (founder-editor of Muslimah Media Watch and a contributor to CNN, Racialicious, B*tch Magazine, and AltMuslimah) discusses both online Islamic feminist activism and the portrayal of Muslim women in global media.

Fatemeh Fakhraie is an editor, author, and blogger who writes about issues from her perspective as Iranian-American Muslim woman. She writes frequently about Islamic feminism, Islam, and race for both online and print outlets.

This event is free.
