Southern Africa Social Forum 2009-Lesotho
The 5th edition of the Southern Africa Social Forum (SASF) takes place from the 7th-9th of October 2009, in Maseru,Lesotho under the theme 'People's Unity against Economic Crisis and Oppression'.The SASF is part of the World Social Forum and Africa Social Forum processes , which has been advocating for social movements in Southern Africa to seek alternatives to corporate globalization that has led to many economies crumbling down( as public spending had been cut down due to the implementation of World Bank and IMF policies), with women and children being negatively affected by the system.

The SASF 2003 first edition was hosted by Zambia, followed by Zimbabwe in 2005,Malawi 2006 , and Swaziland 2008,
Resolutions will be formulated under various thematic areas such as labour rights, gender and women's rights, economic justice issues, land rights, environmental rights, youth rights, governance and human rights, social service delivery, HIV & AIDS and Health delivery systems, among others!

Thanks Karen for the feedback,
The SASF is a dynamic platform for social movements and civil society to address their issues, share experiences and celebrate life in the midst of all the oppression taking place around the region and globally!
I might attend the forum and since 2003 , I have been attending most of these social forums at provincial, national , sub regional, regional and global levels...
It is a productive process in terms of opening up spaces for people to address how the economic policies have been affecting them on a day to day basis and the need to seek realistic alternatives!
Even if I manage or do not manage to attend the forum, I will definitely be giving you feedback!
Watch this space in October!!
