Marginalized Voices

The situation in Nord-Kivu communities has become alarming, especially in the territories of Rutshuru, Masisi, Beni, and Lubero. Many women, both rural and indigenous, have already felt the effects of changing community attitudes. Their vulnerability stems form their dependence on sources of sustenance that are directly linked to the wars that continue to ravage villages and relocate and reorganize their lands and territories. These communities have felt the effects of the war first hand.

Despite the recognition of their vulnerability, their unique knowledge, and their experiences, their voices are too often ignored. Yet these women know the direct impact of war.
