Call For Submissions: Make Your Voice Heard Now - Turn Up The Volume On Rio+20!
The Earth Summit will take place in Rio in June 2012 and preparations are already underway to collect inputs for the negotiating text. The objectives of the Summit are to secure renewed political commitment to sustainable development; to assess progress towards internationally agreed goals on sustainable development and to address new and emerging challenges and this is your opportunity to make your voice heard and to urge governments to take the decisions necessary to shift from the unsustainable trajectory to one which is sustainable. Deadline for submissions: November 1, 2011.
There have been very few submissions to date (17 in total at the time of writing!). This means that the public has an unique opportunity to have its voice heard, but we need to be quick - the deadline is fast approaching!
We therefore urge you to promote this to your members and through your networks so that we see the number of submissions increasing!
This is YOUR opportunity to tell the world's governments what they MUST DO at the Rio+20 Conference!
Submissions should be short and to the point. Relevant topics would be:
Green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication
Energy
Food security and sustainable agriculture
Technology transfer
Water
Oceans
Forests
Sustainable urbanisation
Sustainable consumption and production
Natural disaster preparedness a climate change adaptation
Biodiversity
To make a submission send an e-mail to the UNCSD secretariat (e-mail: dsd@un.org), with copies to Ms. Tonya Vaturi (e-mail: vaturi@un.org) and Mr. Arthur de la Cruz (e-mail: delacruza@un.org)
Let’s go make some noise!
