Tell Congress to Invest in Mothers' Lives!
No woman should die giving life, yet half a million women die every year in childbirth, mostly from preventable causes. This year, President Obama proposed $900 million in vital funding for maternal, newborn and child health and $590 million for reproductive health worldwide. This new funding is an important new commitment to safe motherhood for every woman, but it is just a drop in the bucket. In order to fund these life saving programs, we need Congress to fund $1.2 billion for maternal, newborn and child and $590 million for reproductive programs.
The Liya Kebede Foundation is working hard to make sure Congress supports this critical funding, keeping it in the final budget and WE NEED YOUR HELP.
Investing in women's lives is an investment in growth, sustainable development, human rights and future generations. Help us make sure that moms and babies get the funding they deserve!
