Announcement Coming Soon!

Dear Applicants,

For the past two weeks we have been pouring over your assignments. Again and again we are re-touched by the power, beauty, and commitment of your voices.

As you can imagine, we are finding the selection process to be absolutely agonizing!

We will be announcing the 30 Correspondents next Tuesday, May 4th. The extra days will allow us to truly give each Applicant the thoughtful consideration you deserve. It is an honor to listen to you. Each of you is already a Voice of the Future, and even if not selected this year, you are an incredible part of our community, making it revolutionary!

In the meantime, please take a moment to give us feedback by taking our short survey. We are eager to hear about your experience with the application process. This will help us improve it for next year. That’s right – next year!! This experience has exceeded our wildest dreams. We plan to offer Voices of Our Future next year as well.

Although this application process is drawing to a close – IT IS ONLY THE BEGINNING OF OUR COMMUNITY AND OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER!!

You may not realize it, but you are our founding community. You have created a community like nowhere else, a place where every woman who finds us feels welcomed, supported, and heard. A place where your voices and your true selves can rise and be unstoppable.

Please, don't stop posting to your journals! Don't stop asking for what you need! Invite your friends and sisters to join us! Our vision is to have a network of women leaders and citizen journalists reporting on the hopes, solutions, and current events from every single region of the world.

Stay tuned for Tuesday, Dear Sisters, and cheers to our journey that has just begun. We are shaking the earth together!!

Love,

Jensine

Hi again!

Hello Jensine!
I will be back in a few days, because I have had a cough, not swine influenza, but I haven't had much time for anything but resting. Thanks for the opportunity to express ourselves again,

A Special Journey

Jensine,

The weeks between March 15th and April 15th were ones of such growth, learning, and personal development. But, beyond this, I have loved the way in which the WorldPulse team has reached out to this community of women. I might not hear your voice in the traditional sense of what it means to "hear", but I have listened to the way you address all of us: with sincerity, respect, and deep felt interest.

What I appreciate even more is that there are no borders here. Today, I attempted to apply to The Guardian newspaper's "International Development Journalism Competition" only to be informed that, as a non-UK resident, I was an "ineligible" applicant.

How privileged we are, on the PulseWire forum, to engage with voices from around the world...the UK to Uganda...Bolivia to Brussels...Canada to Cameroon. On here, we are all eligible, all desirable candidates.

Thank you, again, for inviting us along on this journey...

Warmly,

Jackie

NO borders

It has been a priviledge to walk this journey with you Jackie. You are an inspriation to the entire community, and i know this will only grow as our community grows! The borders are increasingly dissolving in a potent sea of sisterly love.

I have really enjoyed the experience of doing this with 100 or so other woman, it felt very good to be doing this alongside so many amazing woman. Just this experience alone enriched all of us who participated and helped expand our views and thoughts on many things.

It would not have been the same experience though if it was not for the wonderful woman on here who supported and encouraged all along the way, especially before this journey started. That honest caring about us gave us hope and inspiration to reach for the stars.

Our honor

Maria,
It is our honor to join hands with YOU in this journey, Maria. It is only the beginning for us all as our community grows here on PulseWire, and our voices rise, as our hands join together. We at World Pulse are only here to hold the space, so the most important voices in the world - yours - can be free and strong and reach to the farthermost corners of where our sisters are needing support and encouragement. You are such a powerful leader, and your warmth and encouragement will open doors for thousands - one day millions more.

A new beginning

Hi Jensine,

Thanks for taking the time to reach out. I was thinking, just today, that once the list is released, many of us will be sad not to make it, and the ones who get to be correspondents will also feel a bit sad for the rest who didn't. So, maybe this is just the beginning of a new relationship between the women who get called up and the ones who don't. I mean, it would be very nice that we reunite in some way, like say, 'Event Highlights Open House', where we could all write in a special page about the things that brought us closer, so it can become like our scrapbook from the experience.

I think we all have had such a good time together that besides mourning for not being chosen, we should also be able to congratulate and feel truly happy for the ones who are, and also leave our mark of 'I was here' in a place that would become something like our 'mourning wall' but full of jokes and good feelings and virtual hugs and love.

Warm regards,

Jackie

We haven't seen anything yet!!

Dearest Jackie -
I cannot express how touched I am by your words and your leadership. Where would our community be without your spirit and spark? Yes, VOF is only one piece of the larger PulseWire Community - and the site is just taking her first steps as a toddler - she's about to hit a growth spurt in the coming 6 months! So, you are so right when you say it is only the beginning! We haven't seen anything yet! Our community will grow, evolve and dance as more and more voices paint the canvas -- and join hands in the movement. Yet our first VOF applicants group will always be legend, it is your group that is paving the way for many more. You are the culture-creators, setting the tone of love and support that every women who now joins us will feel. So happy to see the new FANS group, and also we were just discussing that, after the announcement, we'd love to open up the VOF applicants group for all applicants to continue the community and dialogue, and not have to go anywhere else too.
Big hug,

Thanks Jensine

Dear Jensine:

You are also dearest to me - as you are the big spirit that created this for all of us. We could never thank you enough for having the courage and endurance we know it takes to start a road like this. My heart is filled with humble gratitude for the way you have acknowledged my presence here. Many times I am afraid that people will react badly to some of the words I use and that is one restraining factor that used to keep me away from expressing myself. Thanks to Pulse Wire I have regained the confidence I needed to go further on my quest: making women rise and realize they cannot only dream, but make their dreams come true.

Thanks from the heart.

Feedback to Jensine

Hello Jensine,

In the midst of so much work, deadlines to stick to, word-counts to be fought with, VOICES OF THE FUTURE has been an emotionally and socially rewarding experience for me. I think I am the seniormost participant at age 65+ (I turn 66 in July this year.) and for me, it was a completely different beat than the ones I cover as a journalist every day. I live in a country with more than 100 billion people so you can imagine how difficult it is to ,make your byline visible. It took me 30 years of hard work to make myself visible to some readers of the publications and webzines I contribute to.

But PULSEWIRE and VOICES OF THE FUTURE has really been different. It has shown me how good women much younger than myself are at thinking of new ideas, putting them into words so beautifully and articulately so tat everyone understands, gets interested and excited. It has been a push from behind to me to go ahead and add more meaning tand quality o the limited quantity of time I have on this planet.

The Beat of Your Heart

Shoma,
It is a real joy to hear the beat of your heart and voice. Kudos to you for stepping up and being such a strong figure in our community, encouraging so many others and helping to craft a new form of journalism through women's stories & connectivity. It's a new way for a new era! WHat our planet needs now. Your life is a transformative part of this new age.

nice and enriching

Jensine
it is nice to hear that we have started an important part of women's struggle to be heard. yes I agree that with or without the competition, we should sustain what we have started. the VOF has made a place in our heart that evey week I look forward to what is to be shared and be heard.
The one-week space that you may have been very busy assessing our entries was a time that I know, I am missing the Pulse Wire. I come to reflect that..."What if there is no more VOF" can I still be heard? is it relevant? and to whom will I still communicate? Will I still be relevant?"
So, shall wemake a resolve to continue the sharing? Continue the journal.... and the j o u r n e y......

Sincerely,

Lou

Hi Lou,
So exciting to be walking this path with you and have your strong voice in our community. VOF is only one part of the larger PulseWire Community, so - Yes, it is alive & we are here, right now --- and growing! So, it is only the beginning my friend for us all. Our community will always be here for you and your voice, no matter what. In fact, this is just the toddler phase, and she will be growing fast over the next year - so invite your friends, and soon we'll hit a tidal wave that will influence governments and business the world over. We'll be improving the site over the next year too, based on feedbacks to make it easier to communicate and connect. Let's go!

Dear Madam Jensine,

How nice to hear that we are the FOUNDERS of this new Community, it is only the beginning of our Community, and we have created a Community like nowhere else. It is so soothing in our hearts, am so much inspired and i believe the rest of our VOF Applicants. As you have said, Jensine let us all that be the end of this beautiful beginning lets continue with our Mission of serving our poor Community together

Some of us have tried to help the poor Community all in vain. I believe now together we shall Eradicate Ectreme poverty in Women. I have an urgent need now for our slum Women. Where they were alloted(allotment) slum (plot) to live and so because they have been unable to pay landrates the CITY COUNCIL is about to give them eviction letters is on the process for them to vacate. What they need is not much but it is much to them majority are jobless leave alone payung the rates food is a problem most of them are over 60 yrs.. I know People of goodwill can help them pay the rates.

See you online

Touching

Hi Jesine,
I think i kind of like and admire the way the entire World Pulse team address members with such humility, diplomacy and with significant words of encouragement and motivation.

I for one i consider the integral part of this forum is the whole idea of exchange through our personal journals and groups.
I very well understand when people go in for a competition they strive to win but again, i look at Pulse Wire as a side attraction as such i see no reason for anyone to feel bad if not selected because onlike other fellowships or competitive programs, World Pulse still provide us that platform where we still have the opportunity to raise our voices, create awareness, obtain new ideas, network and share globally with our vison and drive towards gender, racial and cultural equality and other comtemporary issues as a means to procure a better world today and for tommorrow especailly for us women.

So please dear VOF applicants no one should feel desolate because the one was not amongst the 30 chosen hence, withdraw and feel inapt. I hold individually we all have contributions to seek and bring changes in our immediate society and globally. I therefore beseech and entreat us all to not relent but gather more momentum to thrive towards our individual and general goals.

Sincere Regards,
Cecile

Hi Jesine,
It's great to hear that still I have a chance to share and write on VOF, because when I had no news from your side on the Friday I became so disappointed that I'm not selected as a corresponent later on as I read your e-mail I became too happy like a child who reget her toy or friend to play with.

As I mentioned earlier that VOF introduce me with the power of words and give me the strength to speak about my own fealings and thoughts. It aware me to think on a larger scale and sensitized me on several issues.

But unfortunately I could not get time to reply or write on VOF, may be all of you have news about the violent condition of Pakistan, which is creating a really uncertain condition in our country, as a Pakistani if I look around then I could not find any Taliban around me in Karachi but with in a second the condition of city become so violent and many innocent lives are lost and the citizen become so scared. We don't know what's going on who are pushing us in an intercountry war and what are their benefits behind this. Are they the ruling party? who are doing this to get money and loan from the super power. Why super power is pushing us in this violent conditions? what are their benefits? But really it's so horrible to face all these questions.

You know last week I could not come to office due to this uncertain and violent condition of city and we are blocked to our homes and two of my friends were shot dead in that wave of violence. I asked my husband is't wise to sit inside the home or are we coward ? there are many questions which are arising inside me which remained unanswer but provoking me to do something.

We are with you in spirit

Dear Sabiha,
It is the greatest honor in the world to hear your voice, and walk with you on this journey. I salute your important work for women, and I am devastated to hear how things are worsening in Pakistan. I am horrified to hear of your friends! I am so sorry, and I know that no words can console at this time. Keep us posted and keep your safety paramount, and know that the thoughts of the world's women are with you now. At world pulse, we are now publishing an article on the voices of woman across pakistan - I think it is going to be a big wake up call to the people of our country, how damaging the impact is of our presense and influence is - spreading violence. The women are speaking loud. I just spoke with Fatima Bhutto as well, have you heard of her? We must hear out your voices now and take action to do everything we can to stop this bloodshed.

Hi Jensine,
Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. As you know, we Pakistani are very lucky that we have the advantage of having all four season in our country. We have good quality fruits, vegetables, and all other blessings of God. We also have good reserves of Coal, natural gas and Oil in our areas but due to international and national politics, we are not supposed to explore these natural treasures. We have very beautiful tourists sites in our country, which are nowadays, become the target area of the terrorism and yesterday our government arrested some foreigner from these areas who are the master trainers of developing the human bombs
Means in developing the suicide bombers, they are using all types of modern techniques in spreading their messages they have developed master guide and CD's are openly sale in the markets to make these devices. Therefore, it is really a horrible picture from a very rich region. One thing more that we are not ready for all these humans’ attacks. Do you believe that these bombs can easily be made at home with very little resources?
Today we again had a bomb attack in one of our major city Lahore and officially 30 innocents lost their lives and 200 are injured and don't know how many more will become the victim of such activities. I would like to ask one question is there any way to stop such attacks.
We as a nation/gathering are not standing against it and I thought we are thinking that when we are safe or unhurt from such incident then there is no need to speak or stand against such acts. However, I Think this is the time when are supposed to stand because when we are attacked then there is to speak. Sorry I became too bitter.

This has been great!

The journey has been great but i must say it has not come to an end. We are still part of Pulsewire, I guess, right? And we keep posting on our journals right? So the journey is still on.

I am so hooked to pulsewire already. I sleep on my bed at night and I am wondering what my friends have written. I am itching to find out what people have said about my journal entries and it is just so wonderful, so I must say the journey continues for each and every one of us, correspondent or not.

Hi Nelly,
Oh yes, the journey is just getting started. VOF is only part of the larger PulseWire Community, which is eternal, and growing! We are alive, and listening to you, no matter what. So invite your sisters and Cameroon is getting louder and louder!! I am so thankful to have met you and have you join us here. Your leadership is giving the community spark, heart, and leadership. It is only the begining of something so big, the world will stop in its tracks!!

I just took the survey-interesting stuff! I am happy that I participated in this process. The survey questions also demonstrated thoughtfulness and conscious awareness about being inclusive and responsive. This has been consistent and it is refreshing to see/feel it. I am honored that I have been able to play a small part in this PulseWire process.

I look forward to seeing how both those selected as Correspondents and others who have been participating can still communicate with each in a meaningful way-I hope!

The Listeners!

Hi Dearest Sunita -
Congratulations on your achievement - it is only the beginning! Thank you for you comments about the listeners / readers. Aren't they amazing? We are about to soon announce to them the new VOF correspondents. They signed up to help listen to the VOF application process. However, they are now listening across the site to the whole community - so it is spread out to more people. The goal of PulseWire is for every community member to be a listener and a writer. For you, and the other VOF, you will each have a Mentor who will be like a personal listener/ reader to keep your spirits up and help you achieve your dreams.
And, this year, we will be publicizing PulseWire much more and so the community will grow a great deal, and become a powerful force in the world. The listening will expand a hundred times! Invite your friends and we will grow together!
