VOF: Post Application. Now What?

Dear Beloved Applicants,

It is hard to believe that we are at end of the first phase of our journey on the frontiers of new media. This application process has exceeded our wildest dreams. We bow in deep gratitude for the honesty, passion, humor, courage and wisdom we have witnessed over the past four weeks.

We know you are eager for next steps!

May 1: Correspondents announced via email
May 5: Correspondents announced on PulseWire
May 15: Correspondents and Mentors paired
May 22: Welcome packets mailed to Correspondents and Mentors
June 1: Voices of Our Future Program begins!

Q. How are you choosing the Correspondents?
A. Over the past four weeks, a panel of Listeners has been reading and evaluating your assignments. Each week two different Listeners were assigned to each Applicant. An overall score is being calculated for each Applicant. The top 50 Applicants will be forwarded to our Editorial Team, who will choose the final 28 Correspondents.

Q. How many Correspondents will be chosen?
Our Editorial Team will be selecting 28 Correspondents. Each Correspondent is being paired with a volunteer Mentor from the Empowerment Institute.

Q. Can I see my overall score?
Yes! We are still figuring out the most effective and empowering way to give each Applicant their score.

Q. How many women applied to be a Correspondent?
Approximately 120 women applied to be a Correspondent!

Q. What about the rest of us!?
We are busy behind the scenes planning Act II for Applicants who will not be participating in the program. We cannot imagine your journey stopping here. We will be asking for your input in the near future, so stay tuned! But don't hesitate to post suggestions here, too!)

With Love,

Jennifer, Elsie, Scott and the World Pulse Team

Comments

hi World Pulse team
yeah, time passes without noticing that it's ending. This should not stop from continuing our efforts to make our voices heard. What has been started was just a tip of the "iceberge". Many voices should be kept heard and the worldpulse has started it all.
I am very grateful to all of you who have commented on my voices. I feel to bevery sentimental on these comments because I have touched also your lives and others who read it. Now I see strength in this voices and will continue to be heard even if I may not be included among the 28 correspondents. thanks for the opportunity you have offered.
LET'S KEEP OUR VOICES HEARD... AND SEE THE CHANGE THAT WILL SURELY COME.
CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE.

Good news

Jennifer,

It is good you have mentioned that the worldpulse team is figuring out on how to occupy those of us who will not be among the 28. All of us want to be selected worldpulse is only looking for 28... it will be discouraging for the rest of ninety something applicants to be dropped just like that. so my point is that i hope worldpulse is crafting something else to occupy them...

Thanks anyway.

We Can Do It!

Joanna,

Hello! If you have ideas for continuing Voices of Our Future for all applicants, please do not hesitate to throw them out. We want them!!!!

Also, we are in the process of creating a short survey to collect feedback about that topic as well as the application process itself, so you can give us your ideas there, too.

The Lord is your strength

Hello Jennifer,
I really appreciate all the team that have volunteered to listen and to do the scoring, it is not easy at all. I was a teacher and marker for some years beefore i move to the university as a guidance counsellor. I know what it means. God will continue to strengthen you. I just want to appeal to you that as many of the applicants that are not able to be part of the correspondents should be given the opportunity to continue to post into their journal and be sharing with others.

Thank you

Please m one of those VOF Applicant who tried her best to make sure that my email reached on time despite the challenges of having no Computer and Internet Connection.

Imagine, like that of Comment of Remee VISION of a CHILD i had written and while i was about to post the CYBERCAFE attendant switched off the Computer Internet Connection and told me my time was over. I was so frustrated and i decided to change the CYBERCAFE.

I had commented on VISION OF A CHILD on ENVIRONmENT that: "GOD works IN MYSTERIOUS ways HE decided to speak through that child and Renee to understand what the Child was informing humanity on ENVIROINMENT so that RENEE through VOFApplicant will inform us and we take action on ENVIRONMENT since it is our life. Dear Jennifer, Elsie, Scott,

Dear Jennifer, Elsie, Scott, World Pulse Team and all women of this wonderful adventure ...

As far I knew Pulse Wire for a fantastic coincidence when I was looking for more Peace Correspondents from all over the world ... maybe (just maybe, its just an idea) we could try to work together not only in the Pulse Wire journals, but also by writing your peaceful stories from your countries

And, while I am writing this, I am little afraid of my own proposal, because we still trying to expand our project and to find financial aid to continue the peaceful journalistic effort, and to spread our work ... but ... well ... life is always a wonderful risk and I am now taking another one by inviting you to collaborate with us at www.corresponsaldepaz.org

If the idea goes ahead, I would have to search for some volunteer translators to help us to "hear your voices" and of course, I would have to make a "quick guide" of what we understand (at our website) as "peace journalism" and how we would like to write the main stories. And maybe it could take a little time to have at least some of the conditions that we need at Peace Correspondent website

But ... come on !! at the end of the day, this was my first search when I finally found Pulse Wire: I was looking for brave and passionate and peaceful voices ... I was looking for people just like you are, and,,,, I found it was I was looking for!! .... so .... we could try ... we could just try and see if it works for all of us .... :-)

In that way, all of you that still wanting to be a Correspondent, could have the opportunity to be one

What do you think ?! Hugs for all of you: Xthina " )

We will be in touch again about your idea, I promise.

Wondering a couple of things...

Hi again Jennifer !!

I was wondering how to send you an e-mail and not necesarily a reply, but I never found the way :-)

I still thinking that the idea to search Peace Correspondents through Pulse Wire could be very interesting, we only have to work a little and find the better way to do it

In the meanwhile, I was reading yesterday the post of Theary Seng
(http://www.worldpulse.com/magazine/articles/ushering-in-cambodia-s-peace...) and I just loved her "bio-article" ...

It will be incredible to have her permission to publish it it in our Peace Correspondet website, but I do not know if we can have her permission (then I will have to search for someone to make the best translation)

And, in the other hand, as I said before ... we still searching for money to finance our site, (it still living of my own savings which are dissapearing, by the way) so, for now, we are not able to pay for this article (or other) and that's why I decided to write to you before and ask you your opinion, and as far, your advise.

I dont want to ask articles or stories from women in change for "nothing" because it is unfair, and we are precisly working to transform this world in a more fair place to live .. that part of "our deal" scares me a little yet.

Well, I just wanted to share my interest on the idea, and specially (for now at least) my deep interest in Theary's article about Cambodia.... and of course, to share my wonderings about how we can try to find a way (a fair one) to work with the women of Pulse Wire.

Take care and I will be waiting for your answer. Hugs. Xthina " )

You have sown the seed

Hi Jenny,
Whether one is selected as a correspondent or not, the power has already been put unto them. The work you and your team has done is enough to turn the currents of times. I would not have known you or so many others from all over were it not for just the first step of being an applicant. The task for now is not really whether I'll be a correspondent or not but how I will use the space and network to roll the wheel.
Kudos Jenny, you are the kinda girl the world deserves to have!
Cheers,
Edna

It has been such an honor to meet all of you amazing and courageous women... even if virtually. Someone in this thread mentioned meeting in person one day. That would be amazing, would it not.

We are the kind of women the world NEEDS! Let us keep working together.

Hi Team, You have done a

Hi Team,

You have done a remarkable job, providing a platform for women to write what the feel. Whether one is selected or not, I think you have provided such energy and exposure, that one just wants to remain part of the community, and there are many groups to be a part of. You have already done so much for women, just by having this first stage.

Its kind of sad that we have reached this point, it was so exciting having this opportunity to just write, and meet people, that one forgets it is an application processes. Thank you, and may your efforts be blessed. I hope that even if one does not qualify, they can still remain part of the large community and other groups.

Warm Regards

Successful... what?

hi guys,
I don't understand all this successful stuff.... does it mean that if we are not successful we should cease being members of the group. To me it is more important to have the opportunity to speak to women out there and am urging the "unsuccessful" candidates not to be downhearted because this is the begining of many great opportunities for women. Thanks to you all.

Jennifer Ruwart's picture

I agree

My hope is that each of us has been touched by the past four weeks. I know I have. Success is such an individual thing and is measured by more than just being selected as a Correspondent.

Your words are wise. Thanks for sharing them.

Hi Jenny and team,
Thanks for your inspiration and appreciation of our efforts. Technology has broken the barriers of distance and even time and it feels good to communicate openly with people we've never met. In my country we often say that " Milima haikutani lakini binadamu ukutana" (Mountains never meet but humans do) for sure we will one day.
Minus all the barriers we will work together as a people of a generation to change our world.
Cheers.
