Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
I was born in Colombia,I grew up in Switzerland and I am currently a senior in Boston University's College of Communication. I strongly believe that the personal is political. Although this belief originated from my family's history of contributing to the promotion of equity and decreasing poverty in Colombia, it is my academic experience that has made me an advocate for human rights around the world. My work towards my degree in Public Relations and Women's studies enables me to effectively stress the importance of the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women if we hope to achieve sustainable development.

It'll be nice to see you around. I'm sure we'd all like to hear what this student of the social science has to say. Your thoughts, feeling, and emotions.

Your words are so inspiring and perfectly capture the spirit of PulseWire where women are connecting across oceans, continents, and cultural barriers to change the way we live. You are now a member of this vibrant community and I look forward to reading more about your passions, ideas, concerns and dreams. I know that you will find this to be a positive experience.

Please take a moment to post a photo of yourself or an image that best represents you. I encourage you to reach out to other members, or start a dialogue by commenting on another journal entry. You might also be interested in connecting with
Sunita, an active member from Nepal, who is a student at the Asian University for Women. She is a strong promoter of human rights and I believe you would have much in common to talk about. She can be found at:

Again, welcome and I know that you will find PulseWire to be engaging, inspiring and thought-provoking.

Hi Maria,

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I would like to discuss them with you further, but would prefer not to do so on public postings. If you are comfortable doing so, would you mind sending me a quick e-mail. I will respond to your suggestions in much greater depth then.
