The world most liveable it really?

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since my introduction post...busy times here at Mappsafe with our app finally ready for alpha testing. If anyone, who has android smart phone, wants to be our 'test bunny' we would love to have you on board. Please let me know in the comments.

Today, I wanted to share with you results of our survey. We surveyed women in Melbourne about how safe they feel in public places. Results surprised us. 90% of women said that there have repeatedly felt unsafe or uncomfortable in public places. What's surprising is that we live in a city that has been in last few years 3 times voted as the most liveable city.

If women in Melbourne feel unsafe in public places, one can only imaging how women around the world feel.

Another important finding was that 46% of women did not share their experience with anyone, even though they felt that sharing such information would help raise awareness and improve policing.

If you want to see more insights of our survey visit

The good news was that 56% said that they would use Mappsafe, to share public safety information and inform themselves and others about smarter choices of their movements. This really gave us further strength and energy to keep on pushing forward with our project.

We have since decided to run a global survey on women's safety. If you would like to share your experience and opinion, we would love to hear from you. Here is a link to take part in the survey

Many thanks

Thank you for sharing this

Thank you for sharing this information, Tea. I hope that you receive lots of responses for your survey and that many people continue to use your app and share safety information about the city.

Best wishes

Hello Tea,

I wish you the best with the launch of the app. I think many women have felt uncomfortable one time or another when alone or a small group in a public place but have never said anything because society does not want to talk about it. I find it amazing how we are supposed to "know" what parts of town to avoid, especially when in a new/unfamiliar town but no one really talks about it.

Cool idea!

Hi Tea,
I've visited the site and it sounds great.
I tried the survey but it wasn't possible to send the answers. Anyway, while I was answering it, I realized how much the topic impacts on my daily routines... I haven't noticed that so far.
All the best for the app!!!

Great Idea

Dear Tea,
This is such a great idea that you have come up and this story encourages the girls and women to always think beyond and not to let their ideas be stepped on. I wish you all the best with this application. Please keep us posted on the impact it will have. Stay blessed.

help us spread the word

Thanks to everyone with this encouraging words. We've been very busy in the background and we now finally have a prototype of our app. We're just launched a crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo to raise $10,000 to launch the app. It's also a fantastic way to get community engagement and the word out.

This is where I need your help. Successful campaign starts with a good boost from the "inner circle".

I know that a $1 may be a lot for many people around the world to contribute but I trust you have a network of people who can help at least to spread the word.

if you can help us out, please share link to our campaign:

And if you can also contribute, that would be great as well.

I hope it's not too much to ask.

A huge thank you in advance.

forever grateful,
