The online World: How could people trust me with their money just by knowing me online?

7 of the 8 beneficiaries of the Rescue Women Girls Scholarship

I have been asking myself without end!

Why would people I don't know, people I have never met out of the web space, believe in me?
Why would people believe in a project that they have seen no verifiable indicator about, order than a mere blog/facebook post about it?
Why would people trust me with their money, hard-earned money that they toil day in day out to earn, just to pay school fees in a village that they have probably never heard about?
Why would people believe in an unregistered grassroot organization claiming to give scholarship to girls?
I have been asking myself 'why' and 'why' until I can ask no more...

The internet is really a wonder space...this has proven itself to me beyond reasonable doubts.

When I started putting up posts of the Scholarship for Secondary School Girls in Bai Kuke, I was only hoping to inspire others to do same in their communities. I never, never for once, thought that people would drop in to support my own very course. I was amazed at the countless mails and chat messages of appreciation and blessings poured upon me from all my facebook friends and World Pulse sisters. I was truly humbled by the show of appreciation, and motivated to do even more.

Every single day, ever since I re-echoed the scholarship programme as the school year is coming, has been a blessing to me. Such blessings, I have never encountered outside the web space. After all, if the internet was not there, how many people would I have walked up to, to tell them about my scholarship programme? How many strangers would I have instantly turned to my friends and tell them about my scholarship? How many people would I have succeeded in convincing that my programme was real?

The big question is, Would I have even thought of offering a scholarship to girls in the first place? I don't think so. It is thanks to the internet, thanks to the World Pulse training that I birthed the initiative.

I have suddenly become an ambassador for web involvement. I tell everyone I meet that the internet is a fountain of miracles. If I think of the mails and chat IM that I have received from supporters, tears of joy roll down my eyes in the middle of my sleep. Take a look at some selected lines of the messages I have received from sponsors, people I don't know.

Dear Pulsarians, I cannot put copy and paste all the comments and actions of supporters. They are enormous and enriching. I still cannot believe that a single click can create such lasting change. While I laud the power of the web, I thank God for using me to touch the lives of little school girls in need in my little community in Bai Kuke. Even if I die today, I know I will be remembered for at least touching the lives of 8 girls.

I urge everyone not to underestimate the power of the web. Its miracles and opportunities are outstanding. Even though I face the challenge of accessing the net sometimes for weeks because of poor internet connection, or because I am in my village in Bai Kuke that has no connection, I feel really empowered anytime I click connect on the Camtel Dialogue Box on my PC. I feel really empowered anytime I sit behind a computer to connect to the internet. I feel like I am on top of the world when I am browsing the net. I feel like I am over exploiting the net, but I have no choice.

Right now, I was just thinking. Something told me that if internet dis-connectivity was to determined by how much you have made use of it, I would have been disconnected a long time ago. This is because, more than 50% of my day is spent on the net, in my little room.

Once again, thank you World Pulse and thank you online subjects for proving me to me that the web is a wonder world!
