C’était une journée de réflexion portant sur la recherche de la paix et de la justice ;

Commemoration of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture

At the occasion of this day; our ambassadors can participate in a conference-debate with some political administrative authorities; members of the civil society; activists and human rights defenders in the Concordia Lasalle of Bukavu.

This was a day of reflection about looking for peace and justice – recognising that torture is an act for which pain or acute, physical or mental suffering deliberately inflicted to someone with the outcome of obtaining a confession from them, or punishing an act that they or a third person has commited or that they are suspected of having committed. To fight against torture, it’s necessary to have the courage to denounce and sanction the offender. We have to put ourselves out there to defend the rights of man, by realising three attributes:
- dignity
- equality
- liberty

We require the state to take appropriate measures to combat torture between other obligations with respect to the human; the obligation of protection and preserving human rights. We can’t finish this article without congratulating the Governor of South Kivu, MERCELIN CISHAMBO who was also present in the room, and who intervened by saying, “to contine our work…until the very end”…without forgetting Maman NEEMA who participated with us.

Comments

Bisous,

Emma
