What brought me to World Pulse

Tags:

Approximately five years ago, I sat down in a hotel lobby with an intriguing woman who was introduced to me through a mutual friend. This woman had the idea of publishing a magazine that would focus on global issues from a woman’s perspective and provide solutions-based editorial to empower women worldwide. I understood immediately the need for such a magazine and was so captivated by the vision of this woman that I volunteered my services as a consultant.

That woman was the World Pulse Founder, Jensine, who today inspires women from all corners of the globe to stand up and let their voices ring out. Upon relocating to Portland, I renewed contact with Jensine and joined the organization as the PulseWire Community Director, fulfilling a dream to give voice to the silent, lend support to those who feel as if their voice has no significance, and to contribute positively to improving the lives of all – men, women and children.

Sitting in my Portland apartment today, I watch as new voices take their first tentative steps on PulseWire and slowly but surely, witness their spirits take flight as they discover the support and friendship that PulseWire is built upon. I watch as women connect across cultures, I hear the laughter of friendships transcending borders, and feel the support of shared experiences inspiring hope. Each day, I am so moved by your stories, by your ability to touch so many others in ways you’ll never know, and by your courage and strength when you have felt most alone. My dream to help transform lives has found fertile ground in PulseWire which not only provides a network for women, a platform for change but a sanctuary for those who have been silent. I am so proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with this amazing World Pulse team as we watch in awe as you send out your messages of hope, inspiration, friendship and support. It is because of you that our visions for the future are fulfilled and I thank every one of you for making my dream come true.

attracting what you desire

Janice,
Now, it's my time to say something on what you wrote. But I would like to quote from Emily Bronte:

No coward soul is mine,
No trembler in the world's storm-troubled sphere:
I see Heaven's glories shine,
And faith shines equal, arming me from fear.

Because you have faith in your dream...Because you have faith in women.

love,
katea

Thank you

I am humbled by your kind words. It's easy to have faith in women when I have examples, such as yourself, standing before me filled with strength, radiance, beauty and love.

This is what dreams are made of

Dear Janice:

What brought me to read your entry is my curiosity about how long it took World Pulse to become what it is. Five years... It is awesome! I only wish I would have found you earlier. The opportunity all of you have built for us, the bloggers and readers, is inmense. Cold numbers will never be able to tell what this instrument means. Your good will, your hard work and your endurance, as well as Jensine's and the rest of the team are the material dreams are made of. .
You know, the day I opened my journal I decided I would write about topics that help women realize their dreams, or make them realize they even have one. I set that goal for my journal because I know many of us forget to dream while going through our hectic schedules.

I am honored to meet you. Thanks for being there for all of us.

Warm blessings,

Jackie

Hi, Janice, This story was

Hi, Janice,
This story was re-published as a sidebar to the VOF 2013 Application Classroom. Now, it dawned on me -- you were one of those who made a comment on my story. I want you to know that somehow that comment buoyed me up through several difficult days soon after. I am glad the dreamer is here to help those who themselves are dreaming of sustaining a (quivering) voice.

Blessings,

Thank you for your kind words

If there is some small way I can support your work, I am happy. You are the one doing such vital and important work, reporting from the country that gained attention 4 years ago for the worse massacre of journalists. I am in admiration of your courage and persistence to share with the world what is really happening in the Philippines and beyond. Keep dreaming for a better future as it is through your voices that movements are created and policies changed.

Here to support you

Thank you for your kind words. To help lift your voices is an honour for me. Your work in raising awareness of gender violence is so important today when we are seeing an increased number of incidents as women are speaking out for themselves. Empowered women are seen as a threat to the status quo and some men are using their physical strength to control what their minds cannot understand. I applaud you for not staying silent and for drawing attention to this global issue. You speak for millions who cannot speak out with each story.
