Gender Harmony (GH) training on ICT at Kranji village for women and men

We are in the era of globalization; however many women may not knowing how to utilize the technology for their advancement; particularly women live in the rural areas.
Gender Harmony (GH) training targeting to women and men in the rural areas has taught them how to use internet in order to uphold their quality of life, in priority to jump over the poverty line as partners in harmonious living, being self independence, healthy towards advancement and family welfare. The government has given facility within sub district; a mobile internet service; and in every village there are several internet cafe conducted by private community ready to be accessed for only Rp. 2000 - 3000 per hour (about 0.25 US$).
They learned to get information to increase their economic skills, good recipe for food, marketing their products etc.

Gender Harmony

Comments

The Gender Harmony Foundation (GH) plan for conducting training for women in the country; moving from province to another province, district to district, sub-district to sub-district and village to village as snowball action; who were taught by GH shall teach another group/ persons and so on; to reaching out more families especially the poor community.
People are learning also on how to prevent violence against women and how to build respect within gender relationship for harmonious living. Internet makes it efficient and effective. Several GH Friends are utilizing internet marketing for selling their products; such as: goody bag, handy craft, glass decoration etc.
We have collaborated with the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child protection at the beginning (2010-2012); then with the Ministry of Communication and Information and PT. Indosat for capacity building including trained the facilitators. Unfortunately we have limited budget; hopefully in the high hope for the new government after the Presidential election we can move forward together with more sponsors / donors.

Meanwhile the GH programme is promoted through the Gender Empowerment for supporting women in collaboration with men to get harmonious living; Mobile phone with Blackberry messengers, WhatApps application are being used for main communication and information within the GH groups. More activities are being created and conducted by members. The international movement on GH has been started during 2012, and the next event will be conducted during 3-5 December 2014; with the host from Thailand (due to country situation shall be shifted to India). (www.genderempowerment.com). Women and ICT is one of the themes.
It is hoped the effort for women empowerment towards family advancement shall move faster as running through the pulse of our heart beat for a better world of men and women!

What a wonderful initiative!

Hi Erna!
I liked reading your post and loved reading your first comment in which you elaborate on the Gender Harmony Project. I think it sounds absolutely amazing! The goal of gender harmony and gender equality is hugely important to me as well and is such an important priority for women and men around the world to have. As equals we can all move forward together and build a better world. I love the way you have people who take part in GH as participants and learners go on to become teachers and facilitators. And I love the way you are using the internet to spread the word about GH.

Thank you so much for sharing this inspiring post. I look forward to reading more from you.

Best wishes,
Julia
