VOF, Week 3:(Blogging is exciting)

Tags:

I was introduced to blogging some month ago by a friend who introduced me to facebook. When i first started,i was sceptical of what i should share or what i should not share but when i saw what people were sharing, some things that i feel are very personal i became encouraged to come out of my shell and write freely in my blog.I want to say blogging can be exposing and dangerous if you are in a volatile enviroment but it can also be very interesting. It gives one the opportunity to know about people's needs and share their burdens and you are able to discuss your struggles with others as problem dicussed is half solved.
The challenges i am having most in blogging apart from some things i am still learning in web 2.0 which is not making my blogging as interesting as i want it to be is the fact that i don't find it easy to hide my feeling when it comes to issues of somebody or group of people being taking for granted,i can be so factual and provocative. To be diplomatic in issues like that is alway a lot of struggles.Blogging can also be so expensive in enviroment like ours that few poeple have access to internet, you have to go to cafe and with interupted power supply here and there, the cafe with no standby generator you can be spending so much on blogging. Therefore it has to be something you really have passion for to continue to do it.
To overcome some of these challenges presently i have been able to get myself a laptop and also an expert in computer that would be helping me in my areas of struggling twice a week so that i can improve in my blogging.Since i have started blogging, i don't want to stop

With passion is good

I agree it is best to do the things you feel are interesting and worthwhile, especially if you are limited in computer time. I share mine with my 4 daughters so know what it is like to put your time where you enjoy it the best.

Please never stop since your posts are always interesting,

Maria

VOF week 3

Hi Busayo,

I'm Genice from Oakland, California, USA and I'm your reader for week 3 VOF. I loved your essay and I am inspired by your motivation to blog.

I personally find blogging very liberating. I have blogged from time to time on various topics and did a very intensive blog for about two months around the adoption of my daughter Jiana from Kazakhstan. I have found myself sharing things a bit more personal that would have thought to my wide community of my family and friends and some strangers. At first I felt funny about being so exposed, but then I realized that people really enjoyed reading my stories and that the personal nature of them were what made it so much more interesting. You just need to make sure that you are respecting your own internal boundaries of what you feel comfortable with sharing and that you are aware of your audience and what you want to relay to them.

Blogging is a powerful medium to get the word out about injustices. Having tried to blog in Kazakhstan with power outages and slow connections, I know how frustrating it can be. I just encourage you to follow your passion and do your best to speak out when you see injustices that need to be publicized. And don't be too afraid to get personal.

All my best to you.
Genice

Thank you for sharing!

Busayo,

I am so glad to hear that you have found an outlet in blogging. Recognizing the obstacles you come across is the first step in overcoming them, so I wish you all the best of luck in your endeavors!

I look forward to reading your stories in the future!

Warmest regards,
Amelia
