Merci

DIGITAL LITERACY IN D.R CONGO

First of all thank you for this opportunity to talk about digital literacy campaign. One often says when there is a problem there is corresponding solution. Internet gives access to information, it changes the way we perceive things, and it is a great gate to beautiful things, when properly used. I, Kika Sylvie, am a living witness of access to the internet. Through internet I have found a big sister, I share with great lady, I am doing things couldn’t ever imagine.
Unfortunately many women/girls do not have access to the internet, there are not enough Center that can help all women/girls in my community (D.R CONGO) to come online, there is only one center that is not enough to connect even a single province in my community, in other provinces there are no center to helps them concerning computer and internet connection as here at the Mama shujaa center. It is total illiteracy.
Solution offer is as follows: creations of center for Informatics and internet connection in each Province, each commune and in all territories, and in every house; why not? I think that having a computer with internet connection at home can help more women and girls to have full access to Internet. Here in D.R.Congo girls/women are the one who do all the work in the House, at the end of the day they are all tired and do not have time to go to a café or to the Center, all she want is to rest. But if she can have a computer with internet connection, she can rest while sharing with the other. Sharing with others is getting information. Improvement will never come without knowledge.
Thank you

Power of the internet

Dear Kika Sylvie Ketchunga:

I apologize first that I cannot comment in French, but only in English. I used Google Translate to translate your words.
I liked how you described the internet as being a great door to beautiful things. Certainly I have learned so much, far more than I ever would have thought possible some years ago, by using the internet, and I know how important access to the internet is, especially for women - as you so powerfully say.
The idea of providing internet centre for women in the provinces, and eventually making it possible for women to have internet access in their own homes, is a wonderful idea. I hope that it may be possible for this great dream to come to pass.

Best wishes,
Rosemary

Thank you my sister, I too am not proficient in English to understand I use Google to help me, thank you again for the appreciation, thank you also for your beautiful words of the opportunity to dream big

Merci Sylvie!

Merci!
