Women from Honduras developing a worldwide umbrella organization for Honduran Migrants

About Me:
Hello, I am Linda and come from Honduras in Central America. I study Social Economics at the University of Hamburg, Germany. I have a teenage daughter and we live in Hamburg.
Although I left my home country 16 years ago, my heart is still there and I have long suffered in silence the feeling of uprootedness.
Since the 7th of December 2013, I gathered my courage together and decided to initiate a movement called: "The Honduran Diaspora"
In Spanish:" La Diáspora Hondureña" using nothing than my computer, internet connection and Social media tools.
My dream for this recently born project is to inspire and help my fellow country people abroad, and inside Honduras as well to empower themselves, to promote citizen participation and encourage the development of a culture for peace and support the building of a strong community bond of Hondurans abroad.
The main goal is to create an Umbrella Organization that officially represents the interest of the Honduran migrants in their guest land and home land as well.
Along this process, I have found other Women from Honduras, who have been working highly motivated to make this dream come true. I have been very fortunate so far and want to share my joy about this wonderful experience with you.

My Passions:
Work for the Honduran Diaspora

My Challenges:
Make this dream come true.

My Vision for the Future:
Establish a sustainable umbrella Organization of Hondurans Abroad.

My Areas of Expertise:
Social economics, Project Management, Social media tools, Languages.

Women Weave the Web Campaign

Dear Linda,

This is an amazing project! Thank you so much for sharing your vision with World Pulse. I wonder if you would be willing to compose a piece about digital issues for our Women Weave the Web Campaign? You would be the first Honduran to participate and we'd be so happy about that! I'd love to hear your thoughts about how technology affects your life and the lives of women around you. And your digital diaspora project might be a perfect subject! You can find out more information about the campaign here, http://worldpulse.com/about/blog/announcing-the-digital-literacy-phase-o.... It would be fabulous to have your voice join others as we think through issues around digital literacy in all its complexity.

By participating, you will be joining a global community of women speaking out on the importance of digital inclusion and empowerment for women. Your voice will be delivered to powerful decision makers such as government officials, leaders in the technology industry, and policy makers at international organizations. In addition to influencing global agendas, your submission to the campaign will open the door to incredible opportunities such as:

· Being selected to represent World Pulse at influential international forums. This is your chance to meet key players and make your voice count!

· Connecting and building relationships with grassroots women leaders around the world. Be part of a community of thousands of women speaking out on this issue!

· Exploring and sharing resources for your work on our Campaign Resources page. Find support for your initiatives from funding to volunteers and supporters!

· Getting your voice heard on a global scale! World Pulse will analyze and collate your stories to deliver recommendations to influencers and decision makers on a global scale.

· Getting visibility and support for your work. Your story could be featured on our site, included in an e-magazine, or even published by well-known media outlets!

And the 2014 Lynn Syms Prize will be awarded to an outstanding grassroots woman and visionary voice using digital tools to effect change and advance her community work. The prize will include a $20,000 monetary prize to be paid out over two years to support her community based work, a feature profile on WorldPulse.com, and an all-expense paid trip to speak her message in New York City. You can find more on the website, http://worldpulse.com/campaigns/www/www-women-weave-the-web-campaign-prizes

I hope you'll participate!

Wishing you peace,

Kelly

Great Effort!

Hello Linda, it's really nice to hear your voice in our community. It is your community too! I find it really inspiring that you turned your feeling of uprootedness to one that will continue to lift you and others who live away from their homelands and countries.

Like Kelly, I would like to encourage you to take advantage of the Women Weave the Web campaign to share and help others learn more about how digital platforms and tools have helped raise your voice and also enhanced your work.I really look forward to learning more about you and the great work you have set in motion

Best wishes in all your endeavors and hearty hugs to you and your daughter.
