Studying and Enjoying World Pulse Activities

Florence Kekong_Boki. I am still learning everything about World Pulse so as to know how to participate actively because it is a medium that really opens my understanding on how to organize women to speak out for themselves and by themselves WP inspires me to inspire other women and girls to aspire. Well done WlP.Keep up the good work as we join our voices to propel women to higher heights.

Women Weave the Web Campaign

Florence,

One way you can participate is by writing about digital access and digital literacy. I wonder if you would be willing to compose a piece about digital issues for our Women Weave the Web Campaign? I'd love to hear your thoughts about how technology affects your life and the lives of women around you. You can find out more information about the campaign here, http://worldpulse.com/about/blog/announcing-the-digital-literacy-phase-o.... It would be fabulous to have your voice join others as we think through issues around digital literacy in all its complexity.

By participating, you will be joining a global community of women speaking out on the importance of digital inclusion and empowerment for women. Your voice will be delivered to powerful decision makers such as government officials, leaders in the technology industry, and policy makers at international organizations. In addition to influencing global agendas, your submission to the campaign will open the door to incredible opportunities such as:

· Being selected to represent World Pulse at influential international forums. This is your chance to meet key players and make your voice count!

· Connecting and building relationships with grassroots women leaders around the world. Be part of a community of thousands of women speaking out on this issue!

· Exploring and sharing resources for your work on our Campaign Resources page. Find support for your initiatives from funding to volunteers and supporters!

· Getting your voice heard on a global scale! World Pulse will analyze and collate your stories to deliver recommendations to influencers and decision makers on a global scale.

· Getting visibility and support for your work. Your story could be featured on our site, included in an e-magazine, or even published by well-known media outlets!

And the 2014 Lynn Syms Prize will be awarded to an outstanding grassroots woman and visionary voice using digital tools to effect change and advance her community work. The prize will include a $20,000 monetary prize to be paid out over two years to support her community based work, a feature profile on WorldPulse.com, and an all-expense paid trip to speak her message in New York City. You can find more on the website, http://worldpulse.com/campaigns/www/www-women-weave-the-web-campaign-prizes

I hope you'll participate!

Wishing you peace,

Kelly

Thank you Kelly for educating me properly on how to participate. When I said I was still studying and learning I meant to let the Community members know that I was trying to get some more digital knowledge. You will realise that in my first introduction when I tried to build my profile, I made some typographical errors due to the fact that I am still getting to know how to use the internet properly, particularly when it comes to typing using the hand phone. The computers are not available in my Boki Community, except at one location that is being used as a business centre.I can only use the Computer when I get back to the Urban city of Calabar capital city of Cross River State, Nigeria.
I had attempted joining World Pulse two years ago but I kept trying to get over the point that I had to kind of go back to verify the message sent back to my email. That challenge I finally solved just this month. I am happy that I have been cleared to be able to post my comments. I have begun the mobilizing rural women teachers and women community health to meet on Sundays because that is the day that all of them meet in their various social gatherings. They would be engaging on digital awareness and thereby, encouraged to participate in digital literacy campaign. My expectation is that women from my Boki community should also participate actively in the World Pulse community for their voices to be equally raised. As we progress, I will be bringing out the numerous challenges that keep women in my community further marginalized by digital literacy that is absent in the area.
Thank you.
