L'ALFABETISATION NUMERIQUE

Maman Francine

In general, I understand why those who didn't have the chance to go to school and learn to read and write say that learning to use the Internet is difficult. This makes it necessary for those who teach this skill to have special training, because those who can not read or write are not going to learn, even if they are in front of the computer all day. So, I ask Mama Shujaa's trainers that in order to better learn on the computer, they create a training center for the illiterate so that they can learn to read in order to work better with the computer. Thank you and good courage for thinking of the illiterate.

bonjour

Edith

Thank you

Dear Maman Francine,

Yes! How difficult it must be to learn to use the internet if you do not know how to read or write. There is a saying, "You must learn to walk before you can run" and this is a truth. While there are activities one can do on the internet without reading, it seems to me those are mostly entertainment, like watching television or listening to music. Perhaps I am wrong? The greatest power of the internet is in opportunities for education and connecting with other people that require reading. And, there are dangers of using the computer without being able to read all that you are doing, you might get a virus on the computer or accidentally share private information somewhere not secure. Your call to remember literacy training is well said and very important.

First digital steps

Dearest Francine:
Thank you so much for stessing the importance of literacy training beyond computer training. As you so sagely observed, access is only a first step. Hopefully, the promise of connecting with others will make literacy more of a priority as teachers and students can see the payoff.

Good luck with your digital journey.
Yours,
JT

Merci

Dear Francine. How hard it is

Dear Francine.
How hard it is to trying to learn computer skills when you haven't had the opportunity to know the basic education as reading and writing. Sometimes we take that fro granted because we have been lucky , but unfortunately not all of them have had that opportunity. Thank you for sharing and reminds us the importance of education and literacy.
Best,
MariaAle
