Luga moja haitoshi (One language is never enough)
I am jumping with delight as I received a beautifully written letter from my rafiki, Damaris. This program is not only wonderful for its efforts to fight illiteracy but for the joy it spreads beyond Kenya to the many rafikis involved in the letter exchange. I do not think we realize just yet the impact we will make in the lives of our friends in Kenya but I do know that already my life has been transformed because of mamaAfrica and her vision for the future. Asante sana, mamaAfrica for giving us all this soul-enriching opportunity to make a difference.

seeing the image is poignant
Janice,
Reading your response to Damaris and viewing her letter grips me. I've spent my career in language teaching with adults from around the world and children learning to read here in the States. Books, words, and ideas have been a constant and faithful friend. Damaris is learning to write entering this vast, powerful world of the written word! When my letter arrives, I'll post it with my response and the actual letter too. Great idea!
Warmly,
Laura
I am short of words.
